Nothing fancy -- a park along the Potomac River at the end of the runway to Reagan National Airport -- but, depending on the wind, planes either land or take off right over your head. Prepare little ones for the noise. Kids may also get a kick out of watching the "Duck Tours" leave the water and drive away. We... More

This park is a small strip at the end of National Airport. It is used mainly for launching the boat into the Potomac river. Many people come to this place just to take a break or to watch planes landing and taking off. Other than that, it is just a space with parking.

First of all, the weather was 75 in February, so it was a beautiful day. It was the perfect place to watch planes take off from Reagan National Airport. Every 2 to 3 minutes a plane takes off and we really enjoyed ourselves. We were going to dinner later, but this would have been a really nice place for a... More

Maybe you live in a spot that doesn't get a lot of low flying planes and you'd like to experience the sight and noise of a plane taking off or landing. This is a nice spot -easy to get into and park. Other stuff to do here-but we just watched planes...

You can get to this from the GW Parkway going north from the Regan airport. The exit is before the 14 Street bridge. It is a great place to picnic and watch the airplanes land. You can almost see the faces of the passengers. VERY NOISY. Free parking.

Jets landing at DCA (Reagan National Airport) or taking off (depending on what ATC has directed) scream right overhead at Gravelley Point Park, making it one of the most unusual parks around. The jet underbodies are so close, you think you could reach out and touch them. The park is free, with plenty of parking and is the intersection of... More

Not only can visitors stand directly underneath planes during take-off or landing (depending on the wind direction), right at the north end of the main runway for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, but they can also picnic or use the expanse of turf grass for any manner of athletic activity, or relax and enjoy the view of Washington, D.C.

Greta place to watch planes fly in and out of DCA. Also has some picnic tables, bathrooms (porta-potties) and a sports field situated right along the river. Definitely a great place to get outside for a while.

We visited during weekday afternoon, so easy access & parking. There are port-a-potties, a couple of picnic tables. Simply a small field & large parking lot to observe planes taking off. One less star because I thought we'd be much closer to the planes, but we were further away than expected.

For years, we have been taking our grandchildren here to run, play, and watch the planes land and take off....they are fascinated with it! Also, a great place for people to bike and walk along the Potomac....highly recommend!
