if you are into trains, Ashland is the place for you. The active CSX RF&P sub offers great action through town. Ashland Train Day takes place the first weekend in November and is recommended to attend. The staff is very friendly and offer great assistance.

We try to maintain the original history of the building for all the train history buffs. We must be doing it right. Thanks for the great review.

A historic building filled with tons of informational brochures about visiting sites across Virginia. Very helpful staff. If you're there long enough a train will arrive.

This has to be one of the top five "train watching" spots in the USA. Between Amtrak and CSX nearly fifty trains pass by the center daily. The volunteers at the Visitors Center are friendly, understand the "railfan" intellect and make you feel welcome. This...More

We made this our first stop when we arrived in Ashland. The people there were very helpful, and gave us some tourist information and maps. We strolled around the downtown area and looked at the houses. Peaceful time.

Small place. I cannot stress that enough. Brochures are available. No trinkets/souvenirs. Trains go by outside the window, they might be fun to watch with kids. Woman who was working was wonderful. She made the experience.
