Only open in weekend, not enough table and seat for dining, use cartoon boxes or rubbish as chairs, I saw a child fell from a torn chair. Some tourist sit on the street to eat, so you need to bring something cover on the street to eat like a begger. Seafood are fresh indeed. If you can wait for a chair,... More

I am a lucky man because I live in this town for almost half a century. Karato area is a part of our walking course in the morning. Wife buys marine food here. Turbine shells were delicious yesterday. When you come here in the morning on the weekdays, you may not see sushi as you see them in the weekend.... More

Open normally on Friday Saturday and Sunday from morning till 3:00 pm. The Sushi are freshly made and offer good varieties. The toro with different grades from¥200-¥600 each piece. You can have great down-to-sea brunch here. I choose to stay a hotel which does not include breakfast so that I can bring my empty stomach here.

It is attractive to daily routines. Not at all! You had better head down here. You have to go w/t sweat here. I introduce Big fishery mkts in Tokyo. World 1. Is in Tokyo. It is a kind of community shops. I wish that you're a part of us.

This is a fish market for business but open for public as well. It is a good place for breakfast or lunch over the weekend. The popular way to enjoy this place is to take away sushi, sashimi and deep fried fish from one of 2 dozens fish shops and eat it outside, looking over the sea. Though it is... More

Here you can find lots of fugu (blowfish) for sale. This city is said to be the first to allow fugu to be eaten in Japan. I did not eat around this market but went to the famous restaurant which was the first to serve fugu cuisine. It was very fresh, unlike those I had in Kansai or Nagasaki.

We rented a car and drove through Japan with no hotel reservations. We spent the night in Shimonoseki when we we to tired to drive any further. While we ate breakfast we read about the town and the famous fish market where 80% of the fugu in Japan is brought. We spent several hours going through the market and sampling... More

Every time I go visit Shimonoseki, we always go to Karato Sea Market on Saturday or Sunday afternoon for lunch. All of the sushi vendors are fisherman so the quality of their sea foods are excellent and they are as fresh as you can get! All nigiri-sushi is about $1 - $1.50 per piece :) You have to try Fugu... The freshest seafood of Japan sold here. Eyes of fish were so clear you know they are fresh. There is an eatery inside the market where u out can score the sweetest scallop and shrimp sushi. If you're feeling politically incorrect, you can even score some whale sushi.
