understand this is an important place for the Algerians, but it is really only a square with a monument.. don't expect anything more...

A beautiful place but very poorly maintained, it requires more attention and renovation. This is a historic gem to renovate in order to attract more visitors.

Photogenic central square - easy to access with tram, full of children riding ponies and other animation.

The theatre at one end is quite attractive and the main square is nice but not exceptional. The town hall is currently undergoing renovation: perhaps when it is finished there will be more atmosphere. Visiting on a Friday it was all fairly quiet.

Maybe tha place more importante in Oran. I was impressed of more children to play and family seated. I saw the joy of living.

A major impression of Algeria on a recent trip was just how much more interesting and spectacular than expected the city of Algiers turned out to be - and how the opposite applied to Oran.
