Beautiful fortress in a historic area that has a lot of mosques and churches around. There is a great restaurant in the fortress called Kazamat.
Would be good if there were more things to do inside and insights into medieval times.

Came here to walk around about at sunset time. There were many people there having a drink, or just hanging out taking photos. Seemed like a place where local kids would sneak to to have a beer or two and then leave their trash.

The location itself is fine, but why do they allow locals to climb onto the walls and leaving trash there??? Trash everywhere! And, Dixi-Toilets - come on!
Waiter (restaurant): “No service outside!” Me: “Bye” Instead of asking me if I want a meal (no) or just a drink (yes) he let me leave. Very clever on a day when only 6 guests were there and the other waiters were sitting inside (bored as hell)....

It is the oldest monument in Banja Luka and one of the most beautiful sites of Banja Luka, located next to the Vrbas river.

You can feel the medieval times here like nowhere else in Banja Luka. Bastions, towers and obstacles for the enemies.

I am drawn to write how disgusting the state of the castle in Banja Luka was today. Urine smells anywhere hidden and so much litter you could cry. Such a filthy dirty disgusting example of how things are not respected in Bosnia. Clean up guys!!!! The restaurant was wonderful with a gorgeous view of the river but again litter in the river was heart breaking.

I really expected more from this place. Some restaoration works have been done, but there are much more needed. Ok for short walk, but don't expect much. Shame, since its great history and importance.
It's clean, though, which is a step in the right direction.

The only real remnants are the surrounding walls, with the real buildings within it largely destroyed over the centuries. Fortress is a more appropriate term. The day before an event was organised and at many places it was rather a garbage belt then a touristic attraction...

Although the fortress covers a vast area, beside the walls there is very little to be seen inside. At the time of my visit parts of the fortress were closed to public due to restoration works and an archeological dig; even the restaurant was closed. Free entry. So, take a quick look and move on!

Suitable for walking, sitting in the nature with the friends. We were at a music festival so we do not know if it has any additional “museum” content besides the walls. It also has a nice restaurant. Worth a visit.
