It was a fresh start, a very difficult one; especially at a time when tourism in this region was limited to a few fishing trips planned for some directors of Panair do Brasil and a few foreigners who wanted to venture themselves in the Amazon jungle, which was known as GREEN HELL around here. In 1965, the idealist, Manuel Alcy Goes Barros, founded Amazon Explorers, giving his first steps toward the growth of tourism in this region, supported by Bulbol and Trados families, who also had a very futuristic view concerning this issue. Since its foundation, Amazon Explorers has been very proud to offer very nice tours with the same responsibility and lots of joy. Eury Barros, his brother and sister have managed the agency with a lot of responsibility to increase the number of services offered to their customers; services such as: Airline tickets, Domestic and International Tours, Language Courses abroad and the Reception of cruise liners at the local harbor. The name of the agency, Amazon Explorers, was suggested by Richard Brill, an American who fell in love with our region. And it is this spirit of affection which is required to explore the Amazon consciously in order to preserve its environment and to promote a better relationship between man and nature. This is how AMAZON EXPLORERS sees the future in tourism.

The tour picked us up at our hotel at around 0745 and took us to their offices where we then paid. The hotel will make the reservation for you. We bought the whole day tour which includes lunch and a visit to the woods and captive fish. The tour in itself was excellent. The boat ride to the dolphin experience... More

Our guide for a couple of days excursions was Julio. Firstly would like to say he is a huge credit to the explorers day tours experience. We enjoyed everything from swimming with dolphins to going deep in the rainforest and meeting local tribes, the icing on the cake was the piranha fishing and Croc catching evening. Nothing is off limits so... More

Enjoyed every aspect of the tour. Close encounter with the dolphins; Amazing! Meeting the tribes of the Amazonas; dancing with them and having a feel of their lifestyle, is something to cherish. The 'Meeting of Waters' (Encontro das Águas) is the confluence of the dark Rio Negro with the sandy colored upper Amazon River, (Solimões); too good. With the package... More

This one day tour is definitely one of the best I've done. If you plan to interact with the dolphins DO NOT wear sunblock, perfume or creams. That's the only thing about the tour that is negative(nobody told us). It is a great tour for the price. The restaurant is absolutely a great surprise in the middle of the jungle.... More

This was one of the best day trips Ive taken! Very nice and friendly employees! Boat was very clean and comfortable and the crew was excellent! The scenery alone was worth the money! Francisco was so nice and did an excellent job of informing us of all the different attractions! The native Amazon village was so interesting and Francisco made... More

Just got off the phone with one of these jokers. For a cultural walking tour of the city, he wanted to charge my friend and I each R$190!!!! In addition, he warned us that many places are closed (because it is Sunday) and some others may have an entrance fee which is not covered in the tour price. I could... More

The guide arrived at the hotel on time, very polite and humble to show us around in the city. The only drawback is the entrance fee of the theatre and the museum are not included.
