Easily accessible via Bus #120- 20 approximately from downtown Manaus. Several indigenous animals including some birds such as macaws, a big eagle, toucans and others. Monkeys, a jaguar, caiman, turtles, tapirs, and other four legged cats etc. not a large area. Can be done in an hour, or two if you choose to linger. It is in the Brazilian military... More

This is not like the zoos I have visited in the United States, but it was still interesting to see some animals I have not seen before. The parrots and macaws were my favorite. The monkeys were interesting as there were several different species. Learned that monkeys do not like to get in the water. Thought there would be more... More

Some of the exhibits are quite good, but many are dissapointing however you do get a chance to see a jaguar and other animals. Unfortunately the jaguars are bored and in dissapointing cages, which really need some attention. There are other animals and birds you normally don't get to see, so there is some logic in visiting.t was free on... More

Great Zoo offering the opportunity to see local wildlife up close. I love the idea the Military who protect the Amazon maintains this Zoo, Really Nice!

I went to CIGS zoo to see the animals up close as I couldn't see them clearly in the Amazon jungle. My highlight was seeing the Toucan up close and interacting with the friendly soldiers in the area. When I visited, animals I remember present were the black panther, jaguar, 2 species of toucan, several monkey species, an anaconda, a... More

CIGS was easily accessible in central Manaus. I believe i became familar with the zoo and military compound after the unfortunate death of their jaguar Juma during the Olympic Torch relay ceremony. This did not have to happen and Rio Olympic committee failed to honour this resident that so symbolizes Brasil - but that is another story. The Onca (... More

The zoo was very nice and well mantained. The animals were well taken care off. Nice place to visit with your kids and family.

This zoo is located next to the Brazil military base. The military runs the zoo. It's a nice zoo. All the animals are native to Brazil. If you're Manaus and need some time to kill, try the zoo.

Lots of monkeys, macaus and exotic cats. Aquarium is small but the bug and butterfly area is decent. Signage is good not great. Musa amazonia is much better. This should be your third choice for a zoo (after impa).

As you first walk into the zoo it is a bit disappointing. Several Buildings not open. Some areas not inviting to sit and relax in (which is what zoos in North America are like)Walk further and it gets better. Beautiful birds on display. Snakes. Monkey area is very nice. The jaguar area is under construction. You can see the elevated... More
