The History Museum at the Castle presents award-winning local history as well as national exhibits through hands-on experiences that engage people of all ages. We're best known for our exceptional interactive Harry Houdini exhibit that reveals the magician's illusions. Don't miss the exclusive Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion interactive exhibit now through February 3, 2013! We also pay tribute to Pulitzer Prize winning author Edna Ferber, and put Sen. Joseph McCarthy into perspective.

This is an excellent smaller museum housed in a past Masonic Temple. The building itself is worth a trip just to see, this museum has something for everyone. The most popular exhibit of course would be the Harry Houdini exhibit on the 2nd floor, it...More

Wow, never realized how people were thrown into a mental health facility for the insane with such behaviors and bewildering reason as were used in that time period. They even present articles and exhibits of things the residents at the institution made. One resident had...More

Lovely building. Former Masonic temple. Fun museum. Can easily see it all in 1 to 2 hours. Second floor devoted to Houdini. Some magic revealed. First floor varies as rotating exhibit. Cute quick.

First off, IT'S A CASTLE! It really won't get much better than that. However, each time I have been there, they have great exhibits. As I have said in many reviews before, there is something special about this place people from Northeast Wisconsin call home....More

It's a good museum for kids, not so much for two adults. The Houdini exhibit primarily concentrates on letting kids explore how Houdini performed and there are very few artifacts or information about his life. We glanced at the remainder of the exhibits, which seemed...More

Very interesting exhibits. I use a wheelchair and found it very accessible with parking near the back entry. I phoned ahead so they could buzz me thru the back entry when I arrived. Small gift shop with lots of items with reasonable prices.

Special exhibit on the asylum that was local. Also very interesting exhibit on Harry Houdini who used to live in Appleton. Certainly worth the price of admission.
