If you are a tourist in the city, please avoid it at all costs. There is nothing for you to see there. it is an old business center with all kinds of people. It is know for its pick a pockets and people only go there if they need to go there, no sightseeing or interesting buildings to be visited....... I do not recommend !

Oh my gosh, this place is crazy. So much going on at one time. The traffic is Insane and the people are everywhere. You must GO.

Besides the mediocre obelisk and traffic congestion, there is nothing interesting to see there. It is not a square, per se, it simply is where two main avenues plus two other streets intersect each other, at 90 and 45-degree angles. With lots of pedestrians and stores that sell mostly junk, the main attraction is the nearby McDonald's, for those of us who are homesick for comfort food.

Not sure why this should be listed on trip advisor at all. A obelisk in the middle of a very busy junction that you are unlikely to get near without a dare devil approach to crossing the road....but not sure why you would want to get to it anyway.

Need a restoration and urbanization...

The centre of Belo Horizonte is not a nice place to visit. The government should improve a program of restoration, urbanization, safety, as european capitals did. The city centre is ugly and unconfortable to walk around. I love my city, but this is a negative spot to notice.
