Nice view from Ver o Peso Market and some history about tupinambas tribe. Unfortunatelly all in portuguese. The whole area is a remakable location of the old city of Belem. Fort, pier and market. Massive variety of exotic food and best place to buy fresh fish.

It is well preserved, but there is not much to see. You combine the visit here to the museum with the ship and the 11 windows museum and you have a nice combination. There is not much info about the history and you can walk on your own as the area is quite ok.

Make it part of your itinerary while walking in the area. Spend some half an hour there, well preserved. Good pictures can be taken. Be aware while you walk from the market to this fort, your camera might draw some unwanted attention.

You can see the Ver o Peso, the river, and inside there is a museum. Worth the stop. The staff is great.

Next year, Belém will complete 400 years old! An amazing date to be commemorated by "Belenenses" and all Brazilians! Everything started on January 12, 1616 with the beginning of the construction of this fort - "Forte do Castelo do Senhor Jesus Cristo do Presépio de Belém", or simply "Forte do Presépio" (or even "Forte do Castelo"). The construction, on the... More

A nice place to hear about Belém's history and why its named as Belém, there's a military guns and bullets made ina very primitive way. It's amazing.

When taking a walk along the river this is one of the attractions between the Mangal das Garcas and the Ver o Peso. The views are good but as a fort it is less than special.

The Forte do Presepio incorporates a small but excellent museum which is air conditioned. There is some very good displays in the museum however, the descriptions are all in Portuguese. We visited with friends from Belem who were able to translate for us. The walls of the fort are very thick and provide a great vantage point from which to... More

It's nothing much, not a big deal, but once you get there to check all the sightseeing places at Feliz Lusitânica Quarter, you should check the Fort. You can take nice pictures here.
