Parque das Aves is a conservation project in the Atlantic Rainforest near Foz do Iguassu, Brazil. We take in birds which have been rescued from animal trafficking or are for some reason no longer able to survive in the wild. We give them a home in their beautiful native rainforest. We love huge aviaries. We think birds should be able to fly, and have a great social life, and feed on the best, fresh, organic diet possible. We then breed a new generation of birds which are capable of being released back into the wild (and we have a number of projects that do exactly that.) We also support projects and research throughout Brazil. We plant thousands of trees a year, restoring degraded Atlantic Rainforest. The Parque das Aves thinks that education is one of our most important tasks. Sometimes it's as simple as giving people direct contact with these beautiful birds. It's amazing what that can do. We also educate thousands of local schoolchildren a year in special programs. Thank you for supporting Parque das Aves. We couldn't do it without you.

As a part time bird wathcer, i.e. not a real twitcher. it was an experience to see many rare birds, albeit in captivity. Watch out in the parrot enclousure as some will attempt to bit. others dive bomb and of course pass little bits of ahh ooh as they fly

The park is very well organised. With good infrastructure and free WIFI, for example. The tour can be done with/by small kids and elderly people. If you get tired take the short cuts to go to one of the last attractions that is going into the cage of the hyacinth macaw and others. I am not a big fan of... More

It sounds like this place is splitting reviewers. It does have birds in cages and yes some of the cages are small but its worth remembering that most of the birds in the park have been rescued from illegal bird traders and many have had their wings cut and damaged or have been kept in small cages since birth so... Pay no attention to the New Jersey person telling you this place is a zoo. It's so irritating when people post uneducated and misinformed drivel and it must be so disheartening for the staff to read such utter nonsense. The park is very well kept and the birds are clearly very well cared for. The ticket price is a small... More

This place is a zoo, not a park or sanctuary. The birds are stressed out and do not have enough space to have a comfortable life. As I entered the first area, I saw the parrots flying frantically in a small area, emitting a strong and lamenting sound because they were in total distress. The ostrich had a miserly space,... Animals are well maintained and thats nice. You get a feeling of being in a real jungle. The park itself is relatively small, you can finish it in 2 hours. Entrance costs around $13

We were a bit disappointed after our visit to the park. Let me tell you why. The birds are beautiful and interesting, that I will say. The nature around them is as it should be - nice jungle. BUT, the birds are in small cages and eg. the eagles don't have enough space to fly a circle. They opened their... More
