Great beach and it provided a great time for all
Wonderful beach with crystal clear water. Nice waves ranging from small to big, making for a fun time in the ocean. Life guards on duty too, and they made me feel extra safe. Very hot day, but many spots in the shade to sit. Only negative thing is that it is a bit of a walk to get to the beach, and it can be specially tedious after going in the ocean and being salty. Overall a very good beach!

    Gorgeous beach!!
Beautiful beach. Waves gorgeous. Definitely go here if you are at Ihla Grande, Brazil. Need to do a short hike in. or you can take an alternative road-like way in which takes a longer time. Either way, boat access to nearby beach.

    Beautiful, just as expected.
Best way to get there was by boat, which cost about 70 reais from Abraão to Pouso beach. It's also one of the easiest destinations to go, considering the amount of companies offering this route. Between Pouso and Lopes Mendes, there's a short hike of about 30 minutes, nothing too complicated but it's part uphill and part downhill, so keep an eye out for some mud spots that can make the path more slippery. It doesn't demand any hiking gear or anything. The beach itself is beautiful and wasn't considered one of Brazil's most beautiful for nothing. Even so, expect minimal infrastructure, only trees as protection from the sun, and close to zero cellphone network coverage. The only person selling drinks and food there struggled to make the card machine work so it's wise to take some cash to pay for stuff. The sea is quite aggressive on the area we arrive in but gets better in the other end, even making up a great snorkeling spot with some marine life to see. Walking there is another 40 minutes or something but it's quite worth it, with an old buoy washed ashore and an abandoned church in the way.

I wouldn't put this beach high on my list in Ilha Grande. We hiked here for about two and half hours in the heat and when we got there it was packed with Tourists.
Which is fine, but when you hike to a secluded beach you generally expect a bit of solitude. It wasn't really worth the effort.

The hike itself was great, but defo better b beaches on the island.

First, this beach is beautiful; no doubt. But if you've spend 3 days in Brazil - which you likely have if you've made it to 'Grande' - you know there are a plethora of them up and down the massive coast.
Clear water, white, powdery sand, no restaurants or other venues to block your view - all good.
But people rave about it like it's the be all & end all to the nation! 'Lopes Mendes' is certainly worth a visit, and the hike to get there is a hot, steamy workout, but there are other great beaches on the island.
Watch out for the peaceful, pretty little jellys too!

Out of this world. We were hiking from Abroad to Lopes Mendes. With several short breaks it took about 3.5 hours through the jungle. On the way back we opted to return with speed boat like normal tourists ;)
Beach is gorgeous, sand is so soft and smooth, like flour. Also we've seen micos whom were hanging out on the trees just next to the beach. Highly recommended.

Great beach short 20 monute walk over headland from the beach where the water taxi drops you. Couple of beach vendors selling basics and hiring body boards and surk boards. Then just great sand, great waves abd great scenery.

Fantastic place to wander around.
Kilometres of sand, salt water and sun.
There was literally no one around when we were there.

Tips:
Hire a private boat trip to get there. It's faster and effective. Pick the ones with credentials from tour agencies.

Take your food and drinks. There are a few options there but - as you might imagine - very expensive.

Don't forget sunscreen and mosquito repellent and a hat.

This has an out-of-the-way, fine-golden-sand, beautiful large beach, but what we most enjoyed was standing on the large rocks, enjoying the scenery and diving to view the wonderful sea-life. It is a great place to get away from the majority of the world and enjoy this small, fairly private part of the ocean and shore. Nice to get away from Rio’s crowded beaches and vendors forever trying to sell you something. The water here is very clean, and I felt extremely safe.

Great beach, great water but VERY strong sea currents. I was standing on my feet, and the sea started to pull me into the sea. In 2 ninutes I was a 100 meters from the shore with no chance of getting back. I swim very well, and I am a rescue diver. For the fist time in my life I had to ASK FOR HELP- Thank God the lifeguards saw me and rescued me. The people dont advise you. The just sell you the boat trip. The only people who told me about many drownings in that neach where the scuba intructurs from ELITE DIVE CENTER, best in the Island. Surfers rescue a lot of people. I was really scared to death. I started asking for helpas sonn as I tried to swim back abd could not. That beach is no joke.

Personally I thought the two hour trek through the jungle to get to the beach was a better experience than the beach itself. Coming from Australia we have hundreds of cleaner, better quality beaches than this. Oh and my wife nearly drowned there so if you are not a strong swimmer best to stay close to the shore as there are no lifeguards in case you get in difficulty.
