As you have already read, it is roughly 8.3 km one way from town to this beach. It took myself and 3 others just over two hours (all in our 20s and relatively fit). It was not terribly exhausting but the heat and humidity require a lot of water. Upon arriving to the beach we basically had it to ourselves.... More

It really is quite a trek from Abraao and then back again, though boats are available too. Great big, empty beach with great views and a bit of history within the town. Worth a visit if you're on the island, bar far the best beach on Ilha Grande

We loved the white sand beach with nobody! The two rivers run crossing the beach to reach sea allows us to bath in freshwater on the beach which is the reason that think think it is "magic" Don't go to eat in the only restaurant of the village. We had some stinky animal guts with patatos as it was the... More

Lopes mendes can offer white sand, blue water and many miles for you to be alone..Dois rios it's different, you can't get there by boat, you can't get back from there by boat.. So, either you walk (2 hours) there and back (other 2 hours) or you ride a bike (ride / walk)...Let me tell you that the trail it's... More

Good beach to relax! Not so many people go there because have a 3 hours hiking (from Abraao). There is only one restaurant to lunch and no places to sleep (you must back to Abraao by walking).

After 2 and half hours (from Abrao) hiking up and down in beautiful tropical rain forest you will reach abandoned former prison for dangerous prisoners. The atmosphere is absolutely fabulous! Visit also the museum which will tell you more about the history of this village and the prison which was closed 20 years ago. And then you reach the beach... More

To me this was the nicest beach I got to in Ilha Grande. It is easy to get there, the 2-hours walk being on a large road. Not so many people go there, and I only counted 6 other people on the huge beach. Bonus: there is a shortcut you can take if you have good shoes (be careful as... More

This beach is not reachable by boat so it was almost empty. The village itself has a small museum dedicated to the prison that used to be there but kind of feels like a ghost town. There is a small restaurant but no other services. Long but easy walk from Abraao

The village of Dois Rios is a tough 8 km hike across Ilha Grande. Near the halfway point summit on the road there is a trail (Trilha 14) that leads sharply downhill through bamboo groves and steep jungle forest. This trail reemerges on the road and cuts off the two long switchbacks. In Dois Rios the beach is a long... More
