A visit to see the work of Oscar Niemeyer at the Teatro Popolar in Niteroi will not disappoint any architecture student professional or amateur, like me. Niemeyer's vision and genius is self-evident. Ramps instead of stairs because he believed people should be able to see and enjoy their surroundings instead of worrying about watching where they put their feet. Inside / outside, dual purpose buildings that allow for greater and imaginative use of space. The park is stunningly simple. The lines of each building are in sympathy with the environment, easy to navigate and are testimony to Niemeyer's genius. Each building is different, but all form a beautiful and complete whole.

Near the ferry station at the city centre, good place for a walk anytime in the day and good pictures from Guanabara bay. Toilets inside the main building and we can also buy some snacks

No doubt I really love the modernity and minimalism and straight forward way to affirm architecture of Oscar Neymeier. This site look like desert and when i visited there were not exhibit or show going on but the sleek shapes of the buildings are really worth a visit.
A small information desk at the entrance, a video on Niteroi.
No entrance fee. better to visit in a Sunny day.

When you get off the ferry, turn left. There are signs for Niemeyer path and past the bus station. Its part of Niemeyer path. You need to go on a tour to visit the site, but its free. We only have 4 people so we have a private tour. I love the streamline, bright colors, very modern and clean building.

The Teatro Popular and other Niemeyer buildings in the complex are interesting for the photographer and modern architecture enthusiast. For me personally it is a 5 Star but for most tourists I would give it a 3 star rating. It is an open space with modern buildings and a good view. Not far from the ferry to Rio. You must take a taxi.

Right at the entrance of Caminho do Niemeyer complex there is an information office where you can get a guide to show you around (in english and for free!), Nathalia took us around and provided interesting information, we were able to go to the upper level of the theater (theater was closed at the moment) and also visited the 2 other buildings... If you are going to Niteroi make sure you stop here and enjoy this creative space. It opens to the public at 2pm there is a huge area to walk, rollerblade or ride your bike.

A masterpiece of modern architecture: metaphysical on the outside, almost surreal; functional and rational inside, used for exhibitions.

Saludos!
