It took us about three and an half hour to get to the top because we left the car at Caledonia Hotel, but we could had gone another mile by car. The view from here is truly amazing. Before you set off, make sure that you have your documents ready as it is important to go through the checkpoint at the top. Rewarding climb in a car or moto. Scenic and fun. Not very technical, mostly well maintained roads. 100% recomended. I did the climb probably 3 times I enjoyed it so much. Well, I guess the first and most important recommendation here is: Do not try to climb it if you do not have a somehow potent and recently-inspected car. At 8,000 feet this peak is among the highest points in Brazil, yet you can reach there by car until its base and then climb a 600+ steps staircase built in the 70’s to move antennas up. The Peak of Caledonia is located near the city of Nova Friburgo and stands 2680 meters from sea level. Years ago, the peak was open to public visitation by foot.
