Magical place in the second largest urban forest in the world in the middle of the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is a circuit with four beautiful waterfalls. I offer this waterfall circuit as an accredited tour guide at Mtur.

The best ecotourism destination in the city is the Tijuca Forest, located in the heart of Rio, inside Tijuca National Park and minutes away from most neighborhoods and one of the largest urban forest in the world. It boasts around 3.2 thousand hectares and is home to hundreds of species of fauna and flora that are only found in rainforests. Some waterfalls are beautiful places for locals and tourists.

Reachable by car or local bus, this well kept gem of a tropical forest acts as the lungs of Rio. Go through Tijuca up to the Alto da Boa Vista, where a cute round square leads to the forest, which includes waterfalls, small dams, and lots of trees, flowers and small animals. It's quite remote, so drive and walk during the day, and preferable in a tour group for safety reasons.

A big green forest that offers peaceful and easy hikes. The tranquility and beautiful nature is a great trip that can be reached in approx. 45 min by car from e.g. Ipanema.

Gostaria de saber se é fácil localizar as cachoeiras e o mirante indo sem guia?

Visitar a floresta da Tijuca é seguro? Tem policiamento?
Written May 2, 2018
Não tem policiamento ostensivo, mas geralmente onde acontece assaltos são nas trilhas.
