About
In the heart of Lapa, the Cultural Cafe Sacrilege is a completely different place. Reference by the wealth of information and a remarkable creativity. Identity is the joke of the 'sacred' with bohemian Rio. The result could only be an interactive and house full of stories to tell. The house has the astral da Lapa. Sacrilege is not to know!

Neighbourhood: Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.

This more of a live music, eating and drinking place rather than an attraction. Shows are not on every night but you could find out when they are on and book a table through your hotel. There are usually 2 groups playing Samba and Bossa Nova per evening and they are very authentic and good experience. Food is mainly bites and sharing platters which i felt were very appropriate for the environment. Try the sacrilege platter it's very good. The drink prices are also reasonable and relatively cheep compared to other samba places. I though the service was excellent. We were explained the entrance fee as we arrived and given a card each where everything that we order subsequently was filled in for us to pay on our way out. Our waiter, Valdir, was very efficient in taking and bringing our orders and coped extremely well serving the large table of guest next to us as well. Everyone was very friendly and when the party got going a few of the local where helping the tourists with their Samba moves. All in all a excellent night out with the music being the main attraction. PS. There are taxis stationed outside the club so it's easy to get back to your hotel afterwards.

We were there on Tuesday night. It was not very crowded but several people was dancing. I am not sure if they had cover charge on Tuesday night, but we could enter by free. Though we did not stay until very late, but it was a good place for us to enjoy samba and drinks.

Their band was very cheerful and also between the shown, they play Brazilian pop musics and it was fun!

These guys definitely skimmed my credit card and stole about 1000USD. It's still a fun place to go but either pay by cash or be very careful covering your pin.
I went once and had my cat skimmed a few days later (quite common) I went back one week later (partly because my fiends were going) and covered my pin while entering it when paying fully aware that a "security guard" was watching over my shoulder. After I entered my (concealed) pin and asked if they knew what credit card skimming was they became very defensive and began telling me how good their trip advisor rating is and how important it is that I don't share this information. They stole about 1000USD from me so please don't fall for the same thing. It was VERY obvious that it was them one week earlier as they were so defensive and clearly watching me while I was entering my pin. Be very careful !!

This place plays some great classic Samba and is an amazing atmosphere to take in the Samba night life of Rio. The cover charge on a friday night is R$ 15 per person and drink prices range between R$ 11-30 and light snacks for R$ 10-20. It closes at 02:00 Mon-Thurs and 04:00 Saturday and Sunday.

It is separated into two sections a dance floor with with stage and bar, the other side is a seated area with table and is relaxed.

Overall this place is a great place to switch from modern music and listen to some great samba and see some old schoolers dancing.

Enjoy

I liked very much the live music show at the mid level floor, it was really cool, while the disco at the upper floor was not special at all.
The night I was there most of the people were Brasilian, enjoying their Friday night dancingand drinking a very pleasant cold beer.
I recommend the place both for the music and for the atmosphere, much more "Carioca" than in other famous places located nearby where now you meet mainly foreigners.
Note that if you leave the place late in the night, it's not easy to get a taxi because Lapa is very crowded especially at the end of the week, therefore you will be better to take an agreement with a taxi driver to come to pick you up or to take with you a radio taxi phone number.

We have chosen this place as random. We just went to Lapa and were walking on the main street where the clubs are. We had such a great night. Actually we were dancing all night. Locals and tourists were dancing and the athmosphere was very Brazilian. :) The party was on a Friday night and there was 3 bands playing live authentic samba music and between bands the dj was playing Brazilian pop music. The entrance fee was 25R$, which is very cheap considering the live samba music in front of you. Drinks prices are fine, 16R$ for a caipirinha for example. Taxis are always waiting in front of the club so you can get back to the hotel easily.

Visited as part of a bar tour of Lapa.

Was busy but had a great atmosphere with good samba band and music. Had a simple Caipirinha which wasn’t the cheapest we had in Rio but worth it for the music and atmosphere.

Bar staff and the band were friendly.

Even tried our hand at dancing Samba which was a laugh!

Would recommend visiting if part of a group but if travelling alone may get a bit lost in the crowd!
