The museum is above average with old barracks, old naval munitions, and stores. The officers/enlisted quarters are of particular interest along with the hospital.

Small and a bit tired, but this museum nicely complements the National History Museum which is a few blocks away. Some of the explanations are not translated to English so a basic understanding of Portuguese comes in handy.

If you like naval history, it is something to not skip. Calssic building, well organized and nice displays. Starts with Portuguese heritage, fights against Dutchs and Frenchs, Latin-American struggles and the two World Wars.
