Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

You will need a car to reach this beach. It is far but not very populated. If you are looking for a quiet place to be, that is the point. Clean water and far from the crowd will help you enjoy your holidays even more. PS: There is also a part of this beach that is dedicated to naturists called... More

The nature is beautiful. The sand is white and water is very cold! A pitty that the beach was very packed and there was gargage all over the place. Peole could at least take a bag and take their garbage home, instead of spoiling the beach! Not too nice to go with children, the beach is way too full and... More

My wife and I stopped here after eating at Grumari Point Restaurant with friends. It was a very scenic and relaxing beach. We saw locals fishing and a school of fish.

Not very accessible in terms of public transport but really worth the trip! Very green and well kept. Limited parking spots. And huge waves!

Prainha is a beautiful beach and full of surfers. To get there from Ipanema/Copacapaba/Leblon by public transport can be a bit far, but totally worth it. There is a nice restaurant called Mirante da Prainha that has a great view of the beach.

Beautiful beach in a nature reserve. Beautiful. Great waves for surfers. Holds solid ground swell. Great location for everyone. Don't go on weekends, too crowded as it is a small beach with a small road & few parking spots. Beach access closes when too crowded! ["crowded" in prainha is not "crowded" like copacabana]

It is lovely with some good waves at least while we were there this month. Not sure if it is good for swim. But certainly can have a nice walk and drinks.

The scenario is incredible: the forest behind you, the sea in front of you. Excellent place for surfing. You can always make wonderful pictures there.

You will even forget you are still in Rio! Why? Because it is pure nature, no high buildings, just some places to eat and the beautiful Natural Park of Prainha. You need a car ( no buses up to there), it will take you over an hour from Copacabana, and on week ends it can take you longer. But already... More
