It was very nice especially as it was not vacation time so it was not crowded. If you go during this time of year it can be very cool and windy at the top so dress accordingly. Don't worry too much about the clouds they come in and go quickly while you visit. It gives you the sense of being... More

After a 4 day business trip I was limited on time for the tourist trail but here and Christ The Redeemer. The trip up is amazing (unless you're afraid of heights) and got me it was s boyhood dream after watching James Bond in moonraker. Austin visit and take time to soak up the views and see the cute monkeys... More

Just stunning. Go early to avoid the queues. Terrific to see the reverse of the view seen from Cristo Redonto. The cable car works much better than the funicular to cristo Redonto too.

The Sugar Loaf mountain is a stunning visit. You see below you the stunning beauty of Rio de Janeiro. You take two cable cars, one to the lower mountain and the second to the higher peak. Both are worth the trip.

Look for a tour Guide,Pricey but it will make your tour so much easier. Lines are long and crowded. It is divided by two mountains so you need to ride twice. Don't worry your tour guide will always lead you. Expensive food and souvenirs. You can also climb the mountain.(for mountain climbers with ropes.)

This place is a must when you visit Rio. Enjoy the cable car ride to up of the mountain (2 cable cars). Nice view of the city. Plenty of good spot for taking great photos. There's also a cafe there but a little bit pricey. So, better bring your drinks rather than buy at the shops up there.

We went to watch the sunset from Sugarloaf. The ride up was fun, the two cable cars are well maintained and the journey takes only a few minutes. The views are spectacular. Then when you get to the top, Rio is laid out before you with the view of Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer), the bay, the city, the ocean all... More

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
