Very pleasant experience, we walked a good 2.5 hours admiring the fauna. I liked the forest part best. Unfortunately due to the recent draught some gardens (rose and japanese) were pretty much dead, but overall it was a really nice visit and I would recommend it. Also nice and shady on a hot day!

We visited the Botanical Gardens on a hot August day in Rio and the leafy gardens were a welcome reprieve from the heat. It was a nice escape from the crowds and is quite cheap to enter however we did expect a bit more; for example the 'rose garden' only had two rose bushes and was not well looked after...and... More

This place is amazing, so much beauty! But be prepared to walk, the park is huge! Don't forget to visit the Muses Fountain, the orchids and bromeliads and the medicinal plants yard.

If you are going to Rio, most people will visit sugarloaf mountain and Christ the redeemer . Yet tucked away there is this really beautiful garden first put in place by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago. This should also be on your visit list!

Really enjoyed an afternoon in these beautifully preserved gardens. I have never seen such a huge and unusual collection of cacti. Was so interesting. If in Rio, you must visit. So much wildlife too!

Visited the gardens "out of season" ie their Winter, so some things were not as they might have been! Particularly wanted to see the orchid house but this was closed. The Japanese Garden was being renovated so there was no accesss and the rose garde had been cleared of roses! However, the rest of the garden was beautiful with amazing... More

Being a professional guide/photographer for Rio Photo Guide, I can say that this is an absolutely amazing place if you like fauna, history and photography. To make it interesting, I do advise the company of a good guide, or it will just be another park with out hearing its history and fun facts. You can get a guided visit for... More

I was amazed by the beauty of this botanical Garden. We spent half day here but I didn't wan to come out. It's so peaceful. When you are walking on the path between the huge palm trees with the love of your love, hand in hand...you can think about anything, but how lucky you are to be there. Be prepared... More
