Gold leaf everywhere you look, with some Roccoco in the front of all the Baroque stuff. Doesn't make me feel closer to Jesus, but it is still quite interesting, maybe beautiful. Best thing was the view to of the port and bay across the little...More

Yes, this one has some really ornate altar and decorations, but then again so do thousands of other churches not just all around the world but even in Rio as well. Nothing out of the ordinary. If you want to see a church that is...More

I visited most of the sites in rio and this little monastery is beautiful, you get surprised how individual all these monasteries and churches are, they are very personal indeed.

The monastery is easy to get to and the church is very decorative in side. We went to listen to the Gregorian chants at the evening service - Vespers. There were about 20 monks who sang or chanted most of the service.

Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born.
With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical

proof that the old and the new can live together
harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where
all major companies house their offices. However, the
region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like
the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that
