A hippie hangout in the 1960s, this Sunday market in Ipanema is an entertaining place to browse for arts and crafts, as well as to people watch (at Praca General Osario, 8am-6pm, Sundays).

I bought my girlfriend a nice bracelet here, made by a couple that owns their own small business. You don't need to spend a lot of time here, but it's fun to look around.

Apart from touristy souvenirs, you can buy some original jewellery and art here. It says it is open until 8, but when I visited most of people were closing around 5.

We first came here in 1999 on our 1st trip to Rio. At that time we purchased an original painting from an artist named Manoarino - his paintings now sell for about 16 times what we paid for it then. In the park there are...More

The market seems to run only on Sundays at the square right next to a main metro station. The market itself wasn't particularly significant from any other. Lots of jewellery and craft stalls and even more tourists. If you happen to be stuck for something...More

A lot of tents with handmade jewelry and accessories, leather bags, paintings and good food! Don't miss the tradicional Acarajé from the "Tenda das Baianas", a very tradicional dish from the northeast of Brazil. Watch out for the pepper! :)

My wife and I have been visiting the Ipanema Feira Hippie since the 1970s. In the old days you could pick up some really nice works of art from unknown artists for reasonable prices at this open air street fair. In recent times, much of...More

Great art and artifacts of all types: jewelry, leather, paintings, woodwork and metalwork. My favorite was Ivan and his beautiful wooden bike. Most of the vendors' cars parked around the square were VW vans, lending to the hippie vibe. Tons of dining options around.

We absolutely loved this Hippie Market! We stayed away from the usual travel trinkets, opting for amazing one of a kind paintings, a unique locally made backpack purse made from excellent quality leather, and a nicely designed cotton yoga shirt! All were highly affordable, unique,...More

Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the
best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is
inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from

high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which
can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue.
The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing
many art galleries that show contemporary art. There
