It's a bit touristy and perhaps not a market you would make a particular trip to, but if you're passing thru or in the area, why not. You can buy some small trinkets (shop around for the cheaper ones) and sample some authentic Bahia food.

Here is the best place to buy handcrafts from the artist themselves. There are hundreds of stores of food, handcrafts, paintings, and souvenir. Its not that expensive, and to get here is very easy as the metro station is right at the entrance.

Also known as the Hippie Market, this is a Rio must-do. It is only open on Sunday. It includes hundreds of vendors selling all sorts of handmade items & food. My favorite is the man who makes things from tiny bits of seashell

It's a nice place to spend a cloudy Sunday at but if the sun is shining then no. A lot of tourists and the things that's for sale is just for tourists. But it's a cheerful place and worth a visit if you have nothing else to do!

This fair has some great artists and jewelry. However, I purchased a large art piece from ARTES BENIGNO AT 99155-2683/3155-8235 (artesbenigno@hotmail.com) in June 2016 and it is October and I still have not received my art delivery in the US. My initial emails were answered sighting a delay due to the Olympics. I have not received any responses since the... More

Great street art market which takes place every Sunday. There is a lot of stands - gifts, shirts, shoes, jewelry, food, arts etc. Try tapioca with coconut and condesed milk!! It was delicious! Nice market where you can buy anything!

Arrived at about 4pm. Still going strong. Lots of street stalls selling mainly tourist items and some craft items. Items mostly cheap and worth price comparison. Not much food being sold. Worth the visit as the atmosphere is good.

Located at Praca General Osorio, which is the same square as the main entrance to General Osorio metro station. About 2 mins' walk from Arpoador beach (which is between Ipanema and Copacabana). We were there about lunchtime and already some traders were starting to pack up for the day. The stalls were tightly packed, the walkway was crowded but there... More

Really like the fair. I found different things there then at the market on Copacabana. There is a place where they serve local food. I did not eat it but it was worth looking at all the local foods. People were very friendly and they offered good deals. I bought a ceramic Christ the Redeemer that I only found at... More
