The first week we stayed at the Penthouse Botafogo. This apartment was central to all the attractions. I communicated with the owner, Walter via WhatsApp . There is a washing machine in the apartment so u could wash your clothes if necessary.

We could see the Christ the Redeemer statue from all the rooms as well as the Sugarloaf mountain . The beach was within walking distance, but not suitable for swimming. People are very fitness conscious so there were always activities on the beach as well as on the beachside of the road. We felt safe walking along the beach road. The apartment was close to the supermarket which was just at the bottom of the apartment. The Botafogo shopping mall was also within walking distance. We went to the hairdresser in the mall and they did a very good job.. Also quite close to the metro station if u wanted to take the train. The train system was very easy you just buy a card which u need to load to take a trip on the train. You just follow the color lines for where you want to go. Hundreds of people make use of the train on a daily basis.

The apartment had 3 bedrooms. The two were for couples and the one was a single bedroom but it had an extra bed that could be used if you were more people. Each bedroom was en-suite with a shower and toilet. The shower in the single room was not as functional. It has a big sitting room area as well as a big kitchen where we had our dinners.

There was only a coffee maker but no kettle. All other essentials were there. The stove were gas.

The apartment also had a terrace, where there was a Brazilian area as well as a jacuzzi which functioned as a dip pool.

We did a city tour which included the Christ the Redeemer entrance, the park next to the statue, Seleron steps and we had lunch close to the Seleron steps. Rice and black beans are part of almost every meal u order. As the apartment is in the main road there we many taxis going by which u could stop if u needed one. The Uber was cheaper than the taxis but unfortunately the app didn’t allow me to book as it asked for a cpf number which only Brazilians have.

Page only thing that was a bit frustrating was that people did not speak English so communication was a bit of an issue. I had the du lingo app but that was not sufficient to have a conversation, but it helped a bit.

Rio was a lovely place and would definitely go back there if I am able to.

It is a shopping mall that was located very close to our hotel. We decided to go see him on the last day of our stay in Rio de Janeiro. Many stores with a variety of clothing and accessories on the different floors, it also has a large food court. We chose to dine at one of the restaurants that offered a menu by the kilo including sushi. We ate delicious and at a good price. Keep in mind that it closes at 10 p.m., we barely finished eating and all the establishments began to lower their blinds.

This is a great sopping mall, and if you are staying at one of te nearby hotels, for us, it was the Hilton, it is within easy walking distance on the same side of the road, you can walk through the tunnel, which during the day is very safe, we would't do it at night. We went there three times, the first time by taxi, but realising it was so close we walked back to our hotel, no problem. It has the biggest C&A I have ever seen, which sells a great variety of clothing and electrical goods. Lots of lovely clothing stores, shoe shops, a food court on one of the floors, where we ate at the italian fast food chain SPOLETO, we ordered a lasagne each, the portions were huge, and delicious. On the top floor there is another restaurant and a café. This place is well worth visiting, As we had rain on the Saturday and Sunday after arriving a few days earlier, this was the best place to visit.

Not to be confused with the Botafogo shopping centre, which is small, the Rio Sul was great for general shopping with a range of shops at all price points. There was also a wide range of food options with restaurants and a fast food hall. Easy to get to by taxi, just at the end of the Copacobana tunnel in Bogafogo.

It is a typical big shopping of a big city. A great tour option to do in the evening hours. It is the closest shopping option for those staying in the central region of Rio de Janeiro.
Lots of shop options. It is a bit difficult to find the central food square, which is quite large. There are other "separate" dining points in addition to the gourmet space, with more sophisticated and expensive restaurants at the top.
After the closing of the shopping we went to the Copacabana fair, another good option for a night tour.

If in need of upmarket shopping in Rio, this place shouldn’t disappoint. It certainly isn’t full of local shops, but you can obviously go elsewhere to find those (and I recommend you do (support local!)). It’s safe and ADA-compliant for wheelchairs. A fair selection of eateries is on site as well, and I recall that the Wifi is free and fast. It’s clean, too, which is important as COVID lingers in the background of our lives. I recommend this mall.

Small passage through the mall thanks to the weather ... There are everything: European, American and Brazilian brands. Awards are as in France for major brands but attractive for local brands. Several bridges of restaurants rather varied, from restaurant to fast food. Taxis and Uber abound at the main entrance

It is a very complete and large commercial center. It has very good restaurants. On this occasion I went to Gula Gula which is located on the fifth floor. A little expensive, but all good. In the mall you find all kinds of stores, although everything at regular prices and a little expensive. It is recommended to go for lunch and spend an afternoon at the mall.

This is one of two shopping malls in Rio, and is easily walkable from Copacabana beach. There are also taxis available from the ground floor and from the 4th level carpark. Shops are generally average, used more by locals than tourists. There are a few nice restaurants and one coffee shop that tends to get quite popular. Reasonable selection of clothing and household goods. Prices reflect its location away from the tourist strip.

My wife and I visited here yesterday. It's a very nice shopping centre with a good variety of shops. Lots of well-known international brands as well as other, probably more localised brands.

It's very clean, has a nice cool temperature, and feels very safe as there are lots of security people.

It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
