3 hours hike but worth it! Always check the weather before and go early because the place has a lot of stones (small and big ones to climb) and become slippery. Have in mind that if you want to go until the end (after carrasqueira) you will need proper equipment to climb it, so hire a guide. Apparently during weekends a guy stay by the “carrasqueira” charging R$50 to help people climb and use his equipment. The view is beautiful btw!

2-3h hike up the mountain, with some parts where is almost necessary to climb. Might be woth to get a guide to put fixed ropes for the "carrasqueira" section. The view is amazing

4 housemates and myself set off in the evening and found the hut at the base of the trail easily. The guard wasn´t going to let us go up in the dark but we pleaded him and said we had planned well, with a picnic, small tent, light sleeping bags and plenty of water (we thought - about 1.5 litres a person - needed more)
He eventually let us but we had to write our names in the book - and we saw other names that had not been ´signed out´. He said there must be about 15 people up there still.
We stomped up the increasingly steep trail - easy to follow, and after about 45 minutes we came to a nice cave shelter where we had a breather. After about another half hour there was a trickle of a waterfall where we filled up our water bottles. After another half hour or so we came to a huge clearing where we thought it would be good to get some sleep before the final part - but - being a little bit more curious we went up a little bit more and discovered the most wonderful lookout point. Here we had our picnic and some drinks with the amazing night time views.
After some rest down in the clearing we woke up an hour before dawn and headed off for the summit. Eventually we came to a very steep rock face and one girl stayed there and didn´t come any further. The rest of us climbed up this rock face, steeper and up and up and finally came to the plateau at the top. It´s a huge area and we rushed to the east and saw the sun just rising above the ocean. The were small groups of people sleeping at the top, some of which were dangerously close to the edge!
After exploring the top for about an hour we headed back down the way we came, grabbing our friend as we went past her. What a shame she didn´t come all the way!
Absolutely magical experience. Take supplies!

Not exactly wheelchair accessible, nor is it one for the kids, nor is it one for those who are afraid of heights. The route takes you through some forestry, then you come to some steep rocks which are pretty difficult to climb. The view from the top is incredible. There are abseilers who have a business of helping people get down the steep part, it costs 20 real per person. Take plenty of water and mosquito repellant

Boa tarde!

Poderia me indicar o teu guia?
