The area

Neighbourhood: Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.

As long as you're walking along the beach to go to Forte, you should stop and take a picture with one of the most famous and biggest poets in the country. I recommend reading about him and his work so you know the value of your picture.
On the other hand, if you're not into reading or poetry and is not anywhere around, don't bother.

Carlos Drummond de Andrade was a Brazilian poet. His statue is on a good spot on Copacabana beach which means there are plenty of people who sit next to him to have his picture taken.

We actually never did get to sit next to him, it was just too busy.

You can't miss it if you walk along the beach. He is a famous poet and it is a depiction of a typical person watching folks at the beach.

I mean. It’s a statue. And there is much better beach locations nearby. Brazil’s most famous poet gets 2 stars and the other 3 would be reserved for much much more interesting sights

We passed by this Statue whilst walking along Copacabana Beach. It is located between Posto 5 and 6, very much towards the southern end of the beach.

We noted a number of people having their photo taken sitting beside the statue on the beach and wondered at the time who he was and whether the people having their pictures taken knew who he was either.

I didn't know until I looked him up. This famous poet and writer died in 1987 and this statue was unveiled in 2002, on the centenary of his birth date.

Some of the verses of his most famous poem, Cancao Amiga, have appeared on the 50 Cruzado Novo Note.

The famous poet Carlos Drummon de Andrade symbolize the life style of "carioca": sitting in the sidewalk, watching the life and the people passing by. Take your picture with him, it is iconic and unforgettable nice to be in Copacabana with this personality. Lovable.

This place is at the beginning of Copa, near the Forte de Copacabana... It's a nice spot for pictures since you can see all of Copa + the Sugarloaf in the background

Don't know what to say especially about this stature. How is it possible to make review just about a simple stature?
Anyway you'll come across this while strolling along Copacabana. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just a simple stature.
