    Nice ride through the trees
The ride was nice and since the weather was cloudy there were not many people in the line. You can see Jack fruits hanging on the trees. You should definitely take the trem, not the bus to go to the Christ the Redeemer. Due to a delay in our flight we arrived late, and we had to buy new tickets because they did not accept the ones we bought from the internet. You can buy the tickets on site.

    You Gotta Go!
You simply gotta go! There were no lines, but remember if you're paying with a card there is a self service machine that makes quick work of the process. Sit on the right side going up.for the best views. Once you finish with the astounding views I suggest walking back down to the departure level. I usually see of coati or two. They are so cute! I'd like to figure how to take the vans one way or the other through the forest. Don't bother going up if it's cloudy.

    Fun
We bought tickets in advance for the 8am train. It said to print out your ticket but I just showed it on my phone. Did ask for ID though. They put us on the 7:40am train which was good. Train wasn’t full. Sit on the right hand side for the best views, there are a couple of viewpoints.

They treat anyone who doesn’t speak Portuguese differently. They let people who speak Portuguese before us on the earlier train because the employee didn’t speak English. I know enough Portuguese to fend for myself and caught them off guard. They had nothing to say expect apologize. Disgusting behaviour. There is also no air conditioning while you wait at the ticket counter and no air conditioning on the train. It was hot enough to eat sick.

They take souvenir photos of every guest and try to sell them to you at the end. We politely turned it down and the employee told us it was “mandatory”. We just didn’t listen and by passed the photos. Mandatory? Are you kidding me?

2 stars because they treated disabled and elderly VERY well, although this is Brazilian law.

I recommend taking a van or private driver.

If you want to lose half your day in Rio for a five minute picture, take this slooooow train to the top. After our 1:20 ticket left a half hour later, we crawled on up. Both ways it stopped for 15 minutes for no reason while people sold water through the train windows. The entire train was in subdued misery while babies cried around us in the sweltering heat. The statue of course is iconic, and the train was in good shape, so an extra star, but, honestly, Sugarloaf is a much, much enjoyable site, and you can see Christ from its top.

The tram was well organised on the day we were there, we bought tickets in advance and picked them up from the booth. The queue for the tram was not too long. There are some interesting information boards to read while you wait. The tram ride itself is part of the experience and has some great views en route. The wait for the tram back is a little longer, but wasn't too bad, although I can see this could be lengthy on really busy days.

It's a great sight at the top but save your money regarding "Skip the line"!
Viator charges you almost double the regular ticket price for absolutely NOTHING.
True - when you arrive you go to the booth, where they examine your passport, and make you sign a document before issuing tickets. But then ..... a woman at the train looks at the ticket and waves you in to shuffle along behind the regular crowd. When you come down the same. I asked the man in charge, showed him my alleged "skip the line" ticket and he said, "I've never heard of that". It strikes me as a scam, and now they have my credit card number, passport details and private address. I'm worried.

I gave the Christ the redeemer the excellent review, as it an amazing sight. We got there early and found out we paid double for the skip the line tickets. And had to stand in the line to get our tickets printed, anyway. And if you go early it’s not that busy. Opens at 8. All we got for our expensive tickets was an orange wrist band, that got us no benefits.

We found the Skip the Line was a waste of money. We booked this as were advised to do so through a promo video. The cost was double had we booked when we got there which would not have been a problem at all to do. As it was we had to stand in the queue anyway to have the tickets printed and get our arm bands. No skipping of lines to come back down either. A real waste of money!

If you visit RIo, when you return everyone will expect you will have visited this site. You should. It may seem expensive, but it is much better in person than in any photo or video. Standing below the statue and above the city below, has an effect that can't be described or imagined. I am told that if the weather is bad, it is not a good trip. We are glad we went and we were particularly pleased with the National Park museum or exhibit on the way up or down (one of my fellow travelers said that it was worth the trip itself). The train station is in a very nice neighborhood with several good lunch options. Only disappointment was the scarcity of information about how it was funded, the artist's vision, the construction process, history of the site etc. Make the time, pay the money, take the trip.

Arrived late to Rio because of a TAM plane mechanical problem. Glad I did not make train reservations ahead of time as i would have missed it. It was past 4 pm. Then I got a taxi from SDU airport to the train to the Christ Statute. Took about 30 minutes to drive from SDU to the train. Arrived around 5 pm. to the train. Monday January 7th and a very short line. If paying by credit card you use the machine, and there are clerks assisting you so it is easy. If paying cash you go to the window. My taxi driver told me to take the train up and back which I did for $23 USD roundtrip (8660 Br reals) per person on my credit card. Then the train left about 5:20 pm so I only waited like 12 minutes. Trains left frequently even at this late hour. Not crowded. Train took almost 30 minutes to reach the top. Scenic views on the way up. The train really doesn't drop you off at the top as you have to then walk or take an elevator the rest of the way. At the top you have no further fees to pay if you take the train. Then you can take the elevator to the top-a long line so i said no- or take the stairs which is what I did, and it was not hard. At the top it was crowded but really not bad. Sun was setting. Beautiful views and photos. Then started down the stairs to get to the train station but the train line was Long! (So was the bus line). About a 40-minute wait I was told. Really took about 30 minutes and moves quicker than you would expect. I was told they keep the trains running until the tourists are down so don't worry about being stranded up there near closing time. Train took another 30 minutes to reach the bottom. Taxi driver was waiting for me and took another 20-30 minutes to drive me back to our SDU airport hotel. Taxi charged round trip 150.00Brazil Reals which is about $36 USD. We had to leave Rio 8 am the next morning, and i am so glad i went to see this landmark! Even though we saw the statute from the plane, there is nothing like seeing this is person! Go for it! You can do it!
