The surf is great at this beach with a continuous wind where the waves roll on for ages and surfies love it. The biggest problem and hence the rating is the Avenue Governador Silvio Pedroza which runs beside the beach. We visited the beach two days ago and leaned the hard way that this area is regarded by the locals as one of the most dangerous places to walk. There is a favela (slum) tucked in behind the high rise buildings and easy access for criminals to make their escape. The police in Natal are hopelessly undermanned. We stepped outside our hotel (4star) and within 100 meters, like so many other out-of towners were mugged. Thankfully like others we were not shot which is also very common. The neanderthals that live there are doped up and looking for easy prey. They don't hesitate to use weapons and they kill for peanuts. There are many many beaches futher north and south of Natal which are beautiful, better and safer.
