It was nice to ride on this very unique train/trolley and our guide helped to keep it interesting, but the place really didn't provide any value. But, our guide, Linzie, made it worth our while.

We took the funicular railway to the top of Mount Serrat and went round the old Casino. Some fabulous views across the city on all sides. It is worth the effort to go to the second floor where the views are even better.

So, we didn't use the funicular to go up.
My brother-in-law has a friend that lives in the Morro, and so we were granted free entry. The way up was interesting, to say the least. Just don't do it on your own, unless you are with someone that is from Santos, as it is a mildly dangerous neighborhood (I say mildly, because we were told there are worse ones in Santos).
It is almost 400 steps up, and the view is well worth it.
On the way up, there are little stops, with plaques narrating the story of Jesus' journey with the cross.
You have a full view from the Church (that is right outside the casino, just don't wander too far off) of Santos.
In the Casino, you can have a coffee and a snack, and you can also go up the stairs, where there is a ball room. If you go another floor up, you have a terrace that has an even better view of the city of Santos.

The funicular ride to the top saves walking up 450 steps for a great view over Santos. There's a little unimpressive chapel but nothing other than the panoramic view.

What a great experience was this! It was the first time for me in Santos and had no idea what we where going to do. But when I saw it I was so excited. It was weird but amazing feeling going up and down.
The view you see is so beautiful to see of Santos. Thank you!

Monte Serrat is on a big hill, surrounded by nature. There are a lot of trees, plants and bushes. It is near the historic center. Depending on the weather, you can have a very good view of the harbor, the waterfront and the open sea. It is also possible to see Guarujá and one part of the Santos canal.
On the top of the hill there are two constructions from different times. The church Nossa Senhora de Monte Serrat was built in the beginning of the XVII century, when Brazil was still a colony of Portugal. The other building is the casino Monte Serrat. This cassino began to be built in the beginning of the XX century, but on behalf of the world war, it just finished being built in 1927.
This casino was very popular, but in 1946 the government prohibited casinos here in Brazil. Nowadays the building is used for events and parties. It is open to the public. There is a cafeteria inside the building. The construction and the decoration of the place is really pretty. The view of the rooftop is stunning and breathtaking. To go up there you need to take cable car, and to go down, you can use the cable car again or go downstairs.
There is a chapel built between 1598 and 1603. The chapel is part of the miracle story in which Joris Von Spielbergen and his crew wanted to attack the village of Monte Serrat. The locals ran away to the chapel to pray to Nossa Senhora de Monte Serrat. They were afraid to die. While the pirates were climbing the mount a rock avalanche started and killed every one of the crew, but Joris didn’t die because he was in the harbor waiting for them.
We strongly recommend visiting the place.

Nice spot in Santos. To reach the top, you can either take the tram or climb 450 steps in the stair. Either way you will get a fantastic 360o view of the city including the port and the beaches. Awesome! Besides the church there is also a cafeteria at the top with a room dedicated to events for rental. Quite nice!

Worth the rickety ride up in the tram (you can also walk if you have the energy). Discounted tickets are available for seniors (1/2 price). There is a little, not particularly interesting, church at the top. You can also walk up to the roof of the main building for nice panoramic views. Saw some interesting little birds. This is about the only thing that was interesting in the town.

Went up there it does indeed have a great view but I do not think, scenery wise, Santos is a nice city. Also, don't have the coffee up there. It completly burned my tongue.

A nice way up and a lovely view once there. But at the top there isnt much to do and the area is rather shabby. If not part of a group, you might end up in a large queue to purchase tickets, so if possible, purchase prior.

tem como subir a pé?
Durval R
Barueri, SP75 contributions
Sim, é possível subir a pé.

Boa viagem pra voce :)

ainda dao desconto no teleferico p quem for no bondinho?

Dão sim, é só apresentar o ticket. Também vale o contrário. Quem andar de teleférico tem desconto no bondinho.
