Designed by prolific Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer as a monument to the sociocultural and political unity of Latin America, and punctuated by a large modernist statue of a bleeding hand, the Memorial da América Latina is one of the more underrated attractions in the city. The collection of pavilions and galleries houses paintings, sculptures and folk art, along with a rotating schedule of performances and events, like the annual São Paulo Latin American Cinema Festival. Don't miss the giant, whimsical relief map of Latin America underneath the glass floor.

This memorial is a giant outdoor event space. Look on Facebook (or similar social media) for event postings. The schedule had something for every weekend. It is very near a metro stop so good even if you are staying a little farther away from this...More

I personally didn't find much interesting the place, I don't know, maybe is because the security guard complained about my camera.

Planted on 84,480 m² in the neighborhood of Barra Funda, Memorial is a permanent invitation to the scientific and artistic events in Latin America, a plea for them to do the architectural ensemble designed by Oscar Niemeyer in his home in Sao Paulo.

I have to be honest. I have never been there. However, as a Brazilian, I know people who have, and I often see this place on TV as well as events that are held there. So, I am taking the risk to review it here...More

Worth a photo when you are visiting the nearby museums when they re-open, as sadly on November 29, 2013, the Simón Bolívar Auditorium caught fire, causing an extensive destruction of its inner parts. The area is one of Oscar Niemeyer´s designs

Even though its location seems to be unfair. Its remarkable architecture will amaze strangers and residents every time. The events held in this place are well organized and allow you to get in touch with plenty of cultures of the countries, they would have fixed...More

For me the memorial was mostly an architectural experience. Niemeyer, original as always, designed the place in a way that seems quite modern even 25 years after being built. It's located right next to metro station, so one can do the sightseeing even with a...More

Horrible. An avenue cuts the park. Not one plant. It is proposed that way to have visitors experience de coldness of cement and the coldness of the period. I hated it.
