For jaw-dropping views of one of the planet's most sprawling cities, the Edifício Itália is practically peerless. Situated in a bustling, if worn-down corner of downtown São Paulo, the 46-story office tower is capped by the Terraço Itália restaurant and bar. Adequate, expensive food and almost-campy white-glove service aside, you'll never see a sunset as memorable. Free access to observation deck Monday-Friday 3-4 p.m.

The view is great, but

You can see the whole city from up there but the prices of the food are unreasonable. Ive been to a wedding reception several years ago and at night the view is even better!

I went on a Sunday afternoon (sometimes between 1-3) with my boyfriend and another friend that was giving us a tour of the city. She asked the receptionist/security if we could go up (I do not know if that made a difference) and they told her yes and we went to an elevator to the left. There was only one... More

This building is one of the symbols of São Paulo downtown, together with Copan and Banespa buildings. On top of it, there is Terraço Itália, where, apart from a fantastic view over the city of SP, you can have a nice drink or a pleasant meal.

If you want to see a great view of the city to all directions, this is definitely the place to go. You can also have a dinner at the Italian restaurant, which is good, but rather expensive. Easiest way to reach the place is taking the Metro line 3 to Republica-station. The building is just outside the station.

There's a good view - no denieing - but I don't like the fact that it was unclear when it is possible to get in, and do we need to pay or not. Our friend was there on sunday morning and did not get it. We where there in the afternoon after 3 pm and got in, even for free... More

I visited in October 2016 and was told that they do not offer a free view anymore - you need to visit and order something at the restaurant first.

Mind-blowing views from the top of this building near Praca de Republica. There is a 30 reais cover charge (plus whatever you order) but well worth it. The city of Sao Paolo goes on forever in every direction. Amazing. I didn't eat here, cannot comment on the food.

Thank tymmas

Staying in Republica

Neighbourhood Profile
Part of the historical centre of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighbourhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
