The weather wasn't great so instead of hiking we thought we'd try the mountain bike park. Nicolay in the bike rental shop was very enciuraging and helpful to two mountain biking neophytes. We got our bikes up and off the chairlift (a feat in itself) and proceded to get lost in the dense fog. Can't say the trails are marked too well but Nicolay explained after that disgruntled hikers tend to take their signage down. It's possible. We just wanted the easiest way down and it only took us about 45 minutes to find the start of the trail. But from there it was all downhill, as they say. I highly recommend this activity. The bikes were great for beginners and the road down (once we found it) was fun. The chairlift was great and the workers there usually helped us with the bikes.

Came to borovets with no real knowledge of the biking, but the trails were amazing. Loved the need for speed and harry potter routes and could have spent so much longer there. Will be back next summer!!!

Down-Hill trails with plenty of forest-trails , all goes in a Harry-potter style forest , passing deep berms, loads of roots, steep slopes, wooden bridges and ramps, and even extreme road-gaps that were too much for me :(

The Bike Rental Shop in the Rila Hotel looks and sounds professional, but best to stay as far away as possible. They convinced me to rent a full face helmet to be safe (a good idea). When I came back my regular biking helmet I left with them was gone. They apologized saying someone must have borrowed it. I checked back twice. The town was practically empty, they just took it. Also, the bike looked clean, but rode poor and both tires had flats, brakes were bad and shocks shot . If you can find a decent dh rental well worth going to the mountain. Good idea to speak with the shop near the lift.

We turned up on a Saturday and drove straight back out - the place was so rammed with people and cars. I am sure the bike runs are great, but not with so many people. Avoid weekends.

but not always well kept. Great endure trails, I wouldn't know about the DH - not my riding type... easy to go around, but some more signs would make it even better.

One of the few Bulgarian Mountain Bike parks, Borovetes has many different tracks suitable to all abilities. I am personally not much of a downhill rider, I prefer more flowy trails with jumps and parabolics. During the past years Borovetes bike park has been developing a flow trail to differentiate from its typical downhill tracks of all difficulties. I have spent many fun days here, riding rental bikes which are provided along with all the safety gear necessary at a decent price.
