It’s a big scam to avoid. We went there because it was in our tourist guide where it was indicated that a presentation of the house was made against a donation of $ 1.
Before we start the tour, the owner tells us that it is 1$ per person, we accept.
The visit is very brief, including part of the time to present each item of the shop.
Cold shower at the end where the owner asks us $2 per person. We insist that she said $1 but she doesn’t hear anything.
Clearly it’s not worth the $2. Look outside and go spend your money elsewhere.

Excellent experience of a traditional, well-preserved Khmer house. Built in 1920, it was spared in the wars thankfully and has some beautiful furniture. Mrs. Bun Roeung sadly recently passed away, but her niece is deightful and gives an excellent tour. It is only $2 per person and well worth the stop. She also sells some nice and well-priced souvenirs.

We were treated to a very personal and informative guided tour by the nephew of the present owner. The house is beautiful and in a very peaceful village setting. Very much worth the short trip out of the town. Highly recommended!

Very nice old house and friendly family that showed us around. There is also a small giftshop with local made souvenirs. The lady was so friendly to book us a tuk tuk ride back to the city!

The old house is well preserved and is beautifully kept by its owners who offer a free guided tour and tell it’s history. There are several houses but this is one of two that are open to the public. Furniture is stunning and the house shows the scars of the Khmer Rouge regime in its fabric.

They also sell local crafts (there is no pressure to buy). They maintain the place with donations from the tourists who visit. It’s necessary to get a tuk tuk there as it’s not in the centre but it should only cost $2-3.

I guess that this is one of the most interesting place to see while you are in Battambang, because i was made most welcome here and the lady escorted me through the house explaining great detail the history of her family and the furniture and other family possessions that were still there. The house was originally constructed in 1920 by Mr. Bun Roeung and his wife, Mrs Yin, who were the grandparents of the present owner, so now it is in the third generation of ownership. I was shown round the house (29m X 10 m) by the original owner's grand daughter and she explained everything as we went from room to room. There is no entrance fee for her service but there is a donation box where you can drop a dollar or so in. There is also a few souvenirs should you wish to buy anything. The grand daughter explained that during the Khmer Rouge times over 100 of her family disappeared as they were upper class and all educated, only ten of the family members survived. During these evil times the Khmer Rouge used the house as a storage facility. I guess the lady is busy most of the time as a steady stream of customers arrives at the house throughout the day.

This is the place you should stop by on the way back from The Bamboo train riding. You don't need any advanced reservation nor paying for entrance ticket. They provide a free entrance, which I think this is too cool and very kind of them. The land was pretty huge and so the house. The area was cleaned and well organized. You're expected to run to a guy which is knowledgeable in architecture. He is taking care of the house and keep it well maintained. As for entering the house, you're required to be very respectful;as, it was well taken care for 3 generations already. This amazing house was difference from others; since I find the balcony was in the front and another one on the right side. There were a small poster hanging on with the history of the house ,which required two minutes reading to get better understanding if you don't have any guide with you. I love it when they keep every there~ as for the furniture, music instrument, kitchen equipments and many more. When I first set the foot on the house I was emotionally feel the house as everything remained the same and was thinking how amazing was this house built. We tried to barely lift our foot during the tour in a way of respecting and as the for house was pretty old too. There was an donation box which I think it wouldn't hurt you to just donate some to keep the house maintained.

I would highly suggest this house to anyone who love to learn about the old architecture, culture, and wouldn't mind spending 30 minutes or an hour of the house touring.

This house didn't require any dress code to get in; however, the lightest of how you walk on the house, the most respectful you could ever earned for this masterpiece house.

We were 6 people from Siem Reap traveling on 09-Jun-2017 would highly recommend this place to anyone <3

We passed this beautiful house and decided to enter. A young man from the family, explained about the architecture of houses in this area and of this specific house, showing us small models of the different houses. He explained the way of living, different customs and artifacts. The house was beautiful, and the explanations eye opening. We asked many questions about customs, ways of living in the past, and of the tragic history of Cambodia, and his family during the war. We also learned a lot about different aspects of Cambodia today. The architectural and traditional aspects of the house were really interesting. We learned much more. Thanks for all the time you spent with us! We will remember the visit.

It's close by the bamboo train and the entrance is free, that's why I decided to go there.
It's a way of knowing more about khmer culture, but not one of my highlights in Battambang. Anyway, if you're heading to the old bamboo train it is so close I don't see why not popping by and learning more about the country.
Besides that, theady standing over there was super nice and gave me tips on prices on bamboo train and everything. She's more than happy to explain to you about anything (from tourism to learn about cambodia). Not a must do, but an interesting place to go if you happen to have spare time
