Very nice maintained place for skying in the Cordilleras close to the Argentinean boarder. Several slopes and various lifts to take you around. You can hired heliski... 2round for 500 USD.

I was able to visit Ski Potillo a few weeks ago at the beginning of August with some friends. We stayed at the Inca hostel. While the rooms were tiny, because of the luggage check service, and gear check, it wasn't too bad. (Other than...More

I stayed here in April for a week for a business conference. Simply put, it was a great experience. Because of the remote location, we were originally nervous about the food (all our meals were here for ~250 people) and keeping guests busy and happy....More

Although you can day ski at Portillo in some higher snow years, day visits are often restricted during leaner snow years or busy hotel periods. I recommend calling before day visiting. Also, only parts of the hotel are open to day visitors. My review below...More

The entire area is above treeline. Along with the great views of the surrounding mountains, lake and hotel, this means that visibility can drop to zero during storms. On our first day there we hired an instructor to show us "how to ski Portillo." Fortunately,...More

A great place for a day trip from Santiago. The ski resort is amazing and the lake is beautiful. If you are not staying here you have very little to do since it really caters to the skiers.

Yep. It all depends on when the first big storm hits. It is a much better bet to go late July or August.
