We were only in Valle de la Luna, since we heard the two parks are now seperated by a highway and you therefore have to pay twice to visit them both. However, Valle de la Luna was amazing and our tour guide Miguel was very...More

amazing trip, though not recommended if you have claustrophobia! (agencies don't tell you that they make you and several hundred other tourists climb through dark caves without light!) aside from that safe and truely spectacular!

When going to San Pedro de atacama, the moon valley is a must-see! Awesome views and some challenging little hikes (like the salt cave). I also recommend going by mountainbike. It's around 30 kilometers there and back. When going somewhat earlier in the day (10-11...More

Great place to visit, no need a tour as the place is very well organized and you can visit in your own vehicle. The marvelous scenery is outstanding... cannot be missed when visit San Pedro de Atacama

If you are able to be on a bike for about half a day this is a great way to explore Valle de la Luna. The ride there is along a road, not too busy. You have to pay and sign in at the entrance...More

We went to the Valle de la Luna and Valle de la muerte yesterday. We are a family of 4 with kids ages 7 and 11 years old. We hired the tour with Touristour (touristour.cl) and they picked us at our hotel at 14:15. As...More

Valle de la Luna - is Like a Trip to the Moon without the inconvenience of leaving the Earth! It is close to San Pedro de Atacama and should be visited later in the afternoon to experience sunset. The red landscape is so alien looking...More

The Valle de la Luna is where they trialled moon rovers. It is an outlandish area with masses of salt which in places looks like a huge snowfall has taken place. Check out the disused salt mine and some of the amazing rock channels carved...More

I should start by saying that I am no longer as young and fit as I used to be, that's why I rate a group tour visit to Moon Valley only three stars, since these tours are primarily geared towards adventurous backpackers. I did not...More

Hi, Yes, you can drive into both Valle de la Luna and Valle de la Muerte. I went with a tour (mini-bus), but saw lots of cars driving in. There are parking areas. You can hike for as long as you want. The hike I took in... More

Katherine, I was driving a rental car, so I did not take any tour. Anyway I would definetly reccommend being there during the sunset. I´d plan arriving there in the afternoon around 3:00PM should be fine.

There are no hotels inside the Valley itself, but rather they are all based in San Pedro Atacama which is a 5 minutes drive away.
