We drove up to El Tatio from San Pedro de Atacama, leaving at 4am to be there for sunrise. The road was rough to be sure, but there's only one road, so it was easy to find our way. It was also very cold, even though it was summer -- 14,000 ft is very high, and we thought we had... More

The early morning ride to the 13000 foot level was beautiful in the dark. We could see because we had a full moon. We arrived at the geysers before the sun rose, and it was cold in midsummer. It is true, this is not Yellowstone but still a wonder. As the sun rose colors kept changing, and views were different... More

I was a bit wary of doing a tour but it was absolutely amazing. Unlike other trips out if San Pedro which are easy to do on your own in a hire care, this is v established done by tour : the roads are appalling in places and not for the fainthearted at 5AM which is the start time to... More

If you've seen geysers before, you may not be so impressed. I went with a group tour that picked me up at my hostel so your experience may be different if you came in your own car. These aren't the kind of geysers that have dramatic explosions, smells or crazy colours but they would still be interesting to those who... More

You will not miss a thing, just like any geyser all over the world. On top of that it is a early morning start at 5am. Although you get to see wildlife to and fro going there, like Vicuna and Foxes.

We left at 5 AM and immediately out of our hotel there were buses and cars vying to be the first to the site to buy the entrance tickets an queue for the toilets. Toilets are clean. Everything is well organized and the wait is not too long. You have to fill in a slip with your passport details when... More

This is one of the main attractions in the area and about 40 tourist buses leave at 4.30 in the morning to get up there - it is an about 1,5 h drive - no it is a rally !!!! the locals drive crazy fast during the dark and we would not like to be in one of them for... More

This is one of Atacama's main attractions. We went in January. The tour left the hotel at 5am. The temperature at the Geysers was -2C. Wear a sweater over your T-shirt as well as a ski jacket. Gloves and something to protect your ears are also a good idea. Be sure to see the last geyser after the swimming area... More

Well i haven't been to Iceland nor Yellowstone so these geysers were impressive for me. But the road in the black of the night was something terrible
