Such an amazing experience, a must-see if you have the time whilst staying in San Pedro de Atacama! Only tip is make sure you bring very warm clothes and lots of layers! We got a rude shock being Australians in -7 degrees C because they...More

Totally worth it. Super cold when you get there just before 7 in the morning. Having hot coffee with milk and boiled eggs warmed up in a geyser was fantastic. Be brave and take your swimming suit and go for a dip in the hot...More

Tours to the Tatio Geysers leave San Pedro around 4am. They leave early because the geysers are best seen in the cool morning air. Amazing to see active geysers at 4000 metres above sea level and the swim in the pool at the geysers was...More

It was very cold on arrival at dawn but worth the discomfort to see this extraordinary geological phenomenon. Go in a fairly small group and choose a good guide. You will be amazed. Treat your self to a swim in the geothermal pool.

It is quite a long bus trip to the thermal region with a very early departure from San Pedro (about 4:30am). The early start is so that you can see lots of steam condensing in the very cold morning air soon after dawn. Our tour...More

A visit to the El Tatio Geysers is consider one of the three 'quintessential' tours of San Pedro - the others being the Altiplano lakes and Valle de la Luna. Standard tours begin at 0400 aiming to arrive at sunrise as to have the largest...More

I cannot emphasize enough just how important it is to arrive early. Early before the sun warms up the geysers and makes the steam fade. Early before the crowds start to pile in. Did I mention you should get there early? And skip the tourist...More

The early start travelling in the dark could be viewed as a bonus, making the return journey a discovery. Flamingoes, vicunas and a village. We were lucky to find ourselves in the 4WD with only a couple from Brazil, a driver and our guide, Nicholas,...More

Now this is worth the trip and early wake up! Pick up was 4 AM. We had an early (3. 30 AM!) breakfast – yes, hotel Pueblo y Tierra accommodates for early departures which is nice. . We arrived at the geysers at day break...More

We had a great tour here. Tours generally leave very early in the morning (4:30/5 am) and it takes around an hour to get to the geysers. The geysers are at approximately 4200m altitude but it shouldn't have much of an effect as you'll only...More

We were there last year and I wish we rather rented a Jeep than relying on the tour operators. 100% possible. Just make sure you have a map and sat nav.
