i enjoyed my trip here - there is a lot of officiousness around the entrance, not so around the exit (hint) - its a series of courtyards and at least in covid times very peaceful. Some very old statues and the main hall is impressive. It just did not feel like a functioning temple. The "old town" outside is worth a wander for coffee-shops etc, old here being about 20y and every house now being / converted into a shop - but still nice to stroll. The refreshment areas in the temple were not so. I put 2-3hr including the stroll outside

Its roots go back to the Tang Dynasty, when it was first built in 686. Amazingly beautiful mulberry tree which is also believed to be 1,300 years old. This is a large temple complex with 120 buildings over a 89,000 square meter area. Lots of beautiful sculptures.

Quiet and peaceful place to spend for 2hrs. Other than the historical architectures and beautiful landscapping, the pleasant surprise was the maritime museum inside the compound that has part of a very old sunken ship on display. No admission fees required.

The amazing stone pagodas, the old banyan trees and the museum of the Sung dynasty ship - it is a great place to appreciate the might of the Chinese architecture and technology combines with the religion and tolerance.

It is a nice and interesting place to spend 2-3 hours while in Quanzhou. Right at the entrance square you see large ancient 1000 year old Mulberry Trees.
Kaiyuan Monastery is the largest Buddhist Temple in Fujian province with an area of 78,000 square meters (840,000 square feet). Two Pagodas (West and East) situated at the East and West corners of the monastery have an architectural interest.
I also enjoyed a trip to 1916 park., where industrial complex is converted into design studios.

Peaceful and tranquil. First time I've seen a fish pond with no fish - only turtles. Very clean. Great history.

This temple has a rich and long history, back to the Sung Dynasty ! The two pagodas are very beautifully built, and they withstood strong earthquakes over the centuries. The museum in the back kept some Buddha sculptures dated back for hundreds of years... worth visiting !

The temple is located in the city centre of Quanzhou. It has long history, more than thousand year. There is no entry fee at all, the main temple is accompanied by two fabulous towers with nice names. The towers are much more attractive at night due to the decorating lights. The end of the roof looks like the tail of swallow that means no matter where you go, you will be right back to your hometown.
