“Bamboo! Bamboo! Bamboo!” You know this feeling to be a dollar on feet’s, this is exactly what you’ll get here on top of the noise, people screaming for you to ride their draft, etc. Worst thing is that rafts are carried back to departure on...More

This is a lot of fun to travel with friends and relax and enjoy the scenery on the water . A fun way to spend a couple of hours

There are busier locations than others so pick your starting point carefully. This is a simple way of seeing the river in a small group on an interesting small boat. Worth a trip.

We got really wet, but it was great fun. The bamboo rafts took us over several small water falls that plunged the front of the raft into the water, despite raising our feet up, we got rather soaked anyway, but it added to the enjoyment...More

Our boatman was clearly very experienced and did a great job guiding our little raft down the river. The excitement here comes from actually getting over each of the many dams that need to be negotiated. The views from the raft were unparalleled since you...More

As messing about on the river goes, this is not. It is, however, a very relaxing half-hour heading down the Yulong taking in the breathtaking scenery. The most fun part was crossing the low-level wiers; the man propelling our boat was quite young and fit...More

We did a late afternoon ride. The ride is safe for all ages. There are 2 seats per raft and a local guide steers with pole and paddle. The water was slow moving and the sights of local life were nice. There are 3 very...More

Take the local bus (price 10 yuan) from the Riverside Retreat hotel to Xingping. There you can easily buy tickets to go on a motorised bamboo raft up the Li River to Yandi. The trip takes in the most spectacular river sights and lasts about...More

Bamboo rafting is mostly for the experience of seeing the "Dr. Suess Mountains" in a more peaceful and different way. It was an amazing experience but we were glad it was less than an hour long. Beware of the locals with hats and birds on...More

It was absolutely superb. The whole pathway's scenic beauty was marvelous. There were small damns, around 7-8, around the river, and crossing them in bamboo boat was an experience. You can sit back and enjoy the natural beauty in the whole journey (ours was 1.5...More

The Yulong River is a smaller tributary, much nicer for bamboo rafting. The Yi gets very crowded with bigger boats. Tickets can be bought on the spot or through all hotels.

I think the age limit is 64 so I think it's unsuitable for your mum. Such a shame as it's a lovely trip. No idea if they do a shorter trip than the cruise. walking across the rafts to get seated can be hazardous. Hope... More

We didn't use insect repellent when there in early July - we did use sun block though. there is s shade over the raft but still would use some sun block if a sunny day. Not necessary shoes or wipes.
