Good education for the kind of steel mills that made America what it is today. Much original equipment and self-guided tour. Not currently working, so nearly all departments available for "look and learn" experience.

If the Sloss plant has been in the UK we’d have bulldozed it flat years ago and that would have been a pity! There are too many examples of our industrial heritage which have simply been lost to time or, indeed, the developers so well...More

This is a self guided tour through the old Sloss Iron factory. Take as much or as little time as you want making your way through the facility. It is amazing to see the engineering that went into building the factory. There are tons of...More

A worthwhile stop. The location and outward appearance belies how cool this place really is. There is a very nice visitor's center, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Be sure to watch the introductory video, swing into the gift shop (there are hand-forged pieces...More

See the real thing that built a city. Birmingham grew like a MAGIC CITY between 1871 and 1911 in a magical way. The city grew fast because everything needed to make iron was in the area. This place shows the real equipment used to make...More

I have only been there during the day when there was plenty going on. I could see it being a great place for feeling spooky at night.
