My husband is a sports fan in general and wanted to check out this Hall of Fame while we were in town. For $5.00/ticket, you won't get a better place to visit! We were amazed by how many sports figures have ties to Alabama! The displays are extremely well done, and we were given a personal introduction to the museum by a very friendly employee (not sure of his name or position, but he was very informative). I ended up enjoying our visit as much as my husband. Be sure to hear the story behind the grizzly bear! And, no, it has nothing to do with Bear Bryant!

I just needed something to kill an afternoon and found this. It is on the corner of Richard Arrington and 22nd Ave near the convention center. There is a parking lot on the 22nd Ave side for $8 and several parking meter spaces if you are lucky enough to catch one open.
I was a little skeptical, although I live in Alabama now I'm not from here and had visions of the whole Bama or Auburn house divided thing and a Shrine to Bear but I was overjoyed to see what it really was which is a 3 floor tribute to famous athletes (and some not so much athletes but famous...ie Goober from Andy Griffith[he does have a sport connection however])from all sports who have a connection to the state in some aspect, whether they are from here or were born elsewhere and came here to play or coach. Although football appears to be more represented than others there is something interesting for fans of numerous sports.
Upon arriving I was treated to a briefing of this years current inductees, who they were, what they did, and the significant items that they donated which are housed on the first floor. Also on the first floor is a stuffed bear and 3 world series trophies which also have interesting stories behind them. After you are done here go to the 3rd floor and work your way down as the first inductees start there. My only negative comment is the fact that the building is circular so in order to see all the exhibits you have to do some backtracking and several of the exhibits have a "push button to hear...." only one of which worked. Other than that it was an awesome experience. I was here on a friday afternoon and was the only patron there at the time and being a sports fanatic was so obsorbed in the history and artifacts that I didn't realize how long I was there until I got ready to leave and checked my watch...4 hours later!

Even as an Alabama-born and bred sports nut, I am constantly amazed at how many Alabamians shaped our nations sports. You have to see it to believe it and there are four floors to visit!

You can really learn a lot about athletes with connections to Alabama. There were displays with uniforms, medals, championship rings, and information on the athletes. The current initiates each had a big display case on the main floor. Admission price was very reasonable.

Had some time after a conference in nearby BJCC and took a look.
I am not into sports, and don't know any of the athletes but still enjoyed it. Very well kept museum, tidy and great displays.
Affordable entry at $5.
Must have been a slow day though, no-one else in the entire museum.
Would recommend having a look!

This place has artifacts and memoribilia from all sports from football, baseball, boxing, basketball, plus other. It's not just Alabama and Auburn here. If any person played for a college or is from the state they can be inducted. They have a lot of pro sports here. It's 3 floors do you can spend a good bit of time here.

Most excellent place to visit and be amazed at Alabama's hometown heroes. You will be amazed at the names you never knew were from Alabama.

I never realized there were so many connections to sports icons in the state of Alabama. Carve a few hours into your schedule to see all of the memorabilia.

Not a native of this area so I do not get overly excited about teams in Alabama. Sorry about that! The museum looks nice and enjoyed my visit. Went with the cub scouts.

This is an awesome place to visit, one of the best if not the best in the country. The exhibits are outstanding and the staff at the ASHOF is superior and very accommodating to anyone coming to the museum. Alabama has a rare opportunity to aclaim its great sportsman of all time in this museum and I am always proud to return and share with the Hall of Fame. Everything here is liked!

Why are they closed on Saturday 3/18/17? Have people from out of town. Very disappointed I can't bring them. Wouldn't a Saturday be the day when they would get the most traffic?
