When you visit the sandstone statue of the largest Buddha in the world the guides will tell you that the island on which Buddha is carved looks like a Buddha sleeping on his back. I will leave that bit to your imagination. The sitting Buddha should not be missed

The giant sleeping Buddha is best viewed from the oriental Buddha capital. I couldn't see it from the boat and I cannot imagine being able to see it from any other place. The Buddha is lying on his side, his face starts from the left side and his body is stretched out towards the right side. You do not need... More

Some people see animals in cloud formations but you really need a big imagination. Even if you can tell yourself what it is it is not much of a tourist site. If you didn't see it when you were going to the giant Buddha and spent time and money to see it you would be pretty upset

From a certain angle, the sleeping buddha can be seen. It is in a lying position. From left tomright you can see: the head, neck, chest, male organ and leg. It is also interesting to note that the Le Shan Giant Buddha is located at the 'heart' of the sleeping buddha. This has the meaning of : Buddha in the... More

This is not statue nor stone craving of sleeping buddha. Just the outlook of few mountains , island linked together. one need to have a artistic imagination to "see" the sleeping shape of buddha. This is to view from the boat ride.

Once we got to Leshan, we took a minibus to Leshan Giant Buddha (5 Yuan each, they were just waiting for the bus to turn up). This... More

I am sorry, but this was a great let down. Just about everything else in the Oriental Buddha Theme park is more interesting. The air pollution also does not help, as you really cannot see all that much. Utterly overrated

If you have decided to go this route in visiting the leshan giant buddha you have to go thru the oriental buddhist theme park in order to get to the leshan giant buddha. The giant sleeping buddha is carved into the hillside and is immediately visible when you enter the park
