Very good introduction into Turpan's and Xinjiang's history. Surprisingly good English in this museum. Also, it provides for free entry and people are incredibly friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the museum shop is not up to standards and could do better.

By all means visit this museum if you're in Turpan. The dinasour display is wonderful, attractively curated with good information. Definitely worth seeing. My only disappointment was the museum's second floor was being renovated which precluded our being able to view the ancient mummies.

This museum is a great way to spend a few hours, particularly in the heat of the day. It is beautifully designed and really well laid out with impressive displays of Turpan memorabilia from the past. A highlight for us was the dinousaur collection

This is a very good museum to visit if you want to get more context to the archaeological like Jiaohe and Gaochang. Also some very well preserved mummies.

Modern, moderately sized and well laid out / maintained museum, also cool !!. Most famous for its collection of human mummies perfectly preserved due to the arid climate of the region. The mummies were found in the nearby Flaming Mountains and appear to be incredibly...More
