The lake looked awesome. But the journey took 3 hours is too long. It was boring. The journey reduce to 1 hour is better since the view looked almost the same.

We took a cruise across the lake from the Dali side and back. The lake is very scenic but it was a dull day so we didn’t get the most out of it. There are two options, one a cruise across the lake, disembark and...More
We first visited Shuanglang, then Xizhou, and stayed at a hotel south of Caicun (our base when visiting Dali). It was interesting to see how much algaes were being taken out of the lake all day long on both sides.

I actually did not know the town but I believe those saying Longkan are correct. We just showed the taxi driver Caicun on a map because we thought it was there and she figured it out and took us to the dock. Remember there are two ferry rides, the long one and the short one we did. Yes, it only goes in the middle but that was long enough for us to get a sense of the size and beauty of the lake and the visits were interesting without being too long. Bon voyage!
