If you're in town without transportation, you can walk to this hillside fortress above the city; with a sitter or car you can drive yourself up, following the signs. The crenellated walls are visible spilling down the hillside in a few spots. It doesn't take long to explore, but it offers a nice view and escape from town.

The whole of Hvar's beautiful harbour opens up to you from the heights of the fortress. Well worth the walk and the nominal ticket price. The historical exhibitions are small but tantalizing. Most of all it is the fort itself, its long history, the magnificent crenellated walls and above all the view.

Great views over Hvar as and definitely worth paying the entrance fee to get in. Views are spectacular and there's a cafe inside for those who want to sit down and have a drink after taking lots of pics

Went with tour guide. Great vistas and interesting history. Banged my head coming out of the dungeon! Arrived by coach but walked down through the gardens into town. Really recommend this attraction.

No interest on paying to view the inside but the view from the top over the city of Hvar and the islands in front is worth going up.

Very cool to see the old fortress overlooking the harbor, which is one of the most beautiful ports and all of Croatia in my opinion. Truly a magnificent view from the top

The walk to the top is totally worth it for a fantastic view over the harbour and town. There is a lovely coffee shops and interesting museum.

The fortress at the top is cool but the ticket office doesn't have a card machine so take sufficient cash - the main attraction for me at the top of was the views of Hvar and the Paklinski Islands. It's a sweaty walk, especially in the height of summer, but not too difficult. Make sure you check out the narrow... More

Visit this place for beautiful views over the port. Especially nice when sun is about to set. Access to the fortress from the gardens is via a gentle slope. 40 kuna to access within the grounds.

The fortress is a 'must-see' venue if you are in Hvar. Accessed from several of the many walkways from the main square you ascend to the approach paths to the fortress itself. Every few metres gives you a new view of the town and the islands in the bay so you need to take your time as you go up.... More
