If you are near Plitvice Lakes you should not avoid them because big waterfall is something you must see. You can not get to close because you will be wet, but being near something so beautiful is amazing.

The Veliki Slap is the biggest waterfall in the park, but don't go in expecting a massive Niagara Falls type situation. There isn't much water cascading down this waterfall, but the lake it descends into is absolutely beautiful and the entire scene is gorgeous. It's...More

The park is great and beautiful. Be prepare to walk a lot, but is very easy. We went upper and lower in same day, and at the end of day take boat. It was very nice.

I liked seeing this water fall however, I think there are more beautiful sights to see in the Plitvice Lakes. Go ahead and make the hike. Gets pretty crowded there.

It is so sad to see trash, cigarette buts, dog sheet, dogs let into the water, people Deeping their feet, coins on the bed lake, water bottles in the cascades. Where are the rangers? Where are the cleaning crew? The make way over 2 million...More

Although many tourists are asking for it, we consider it not the biggest attraction. Better get up above the waterfall and overlook the park or the falls in combination with more parts of the park. You can hardly make a good picture of the falls...More

yes, quite safe and gently sloping for the most part where there are inclines... but there are no guard rails along some water edges so holding hands may be necessary!

That is peak season so the entry rate is at its highest, like around $10-12 per adult. I think I stayed in that same hotel and you can walk to one of the park entrances. There is a free shuttle to the other entrance.
