We were looking to get into the restaurant Casa Julian. The park was closed but we had heard good things about the restaurant food so we wanted to try it. When we asked for directions to the park’s guardian he was extremely rude and just mocked us. As if we would want to get inside the park even though it was closed. We spend only a few weeks a year in Ecuador and this is the kind of treatment one gets. We are not coming back to this place nor the restaurant.

I really wasn’t sure how to rate this park. I stayed at the Hotel which is located immediately adjacent to the park. The grounds surrounding the hotel & the park are lush & beautiful, unfortunately, the park isn’t open. As a guest of the hotel, you can see a couple of animals along the edge of the park , which are visible from the walkway to their restaurant.
It’s a shame that it’s not open. It looks well maintained, but don’t waste your time coming to this area of the city without checking on the status of its opening. Even then, double check on that, I asked several times about whether the park was open & was told by several different people that it was open & operating normally. I was very disappointed when I arrived at the hotel to find out that it was closed.

My experience was very nice. I went 3 times for school matters and it is actually a very entertaining and interesting site. The attention of those in charge of explaining the characteristics of each animal is very good and understandable. The only thing that I don't like very much are the costs that there are in the food places, they are not so accessible, it is better to bring food on your own.

Our last stop after our Galapagos cruise. We we fortunate to visit in the evening for dinner at Casa Julien and then the next day for the zoo and historic areas. Lovely, informative, and relaxing- bring your camera, nice photo ops.

This is quite far from the tourist areas of Guayaquil - it not walkable, even if the books say it is.
Once there it is quite interesting, especially the area with the animals. The historic area is less interesting and could use more explanations.
Café Julian nearby is a nice place for a coffee/drink.

If you have time in Guayaquil then this is a good place to go.

It's very entertaining and interesting. Ideal for family friendly, there is variety of entertainment, good shaded lounging spots and clean bathrooms.
I recommend carrying water for drinking, using sunscreen and insect repellent

If you have a few hours and don't mind taking a cab in the city, this is a worthwhile stop. It's free, the animals are interesting and they seem to be well cared for, and the cultural exhibits are worthwhile. If you have kids who love animals this would be a great choice. For adults, it's a nice walk with interesting sites along the way. Bring bug spray if you have it.

We enjoyed visiting this park and seeing the birds & animals in a forested setting with streams & ponds located throughout. The relocated heritage buildings were also interesting as they give you a sense of Guayaquil a century ago. - If you have time plan to eat at Casa Julian. It’s gourmet food all the way.

Guayaquil is a very big city, using the system is very complicated if you are going to be a couple of days, so I recommend using a taxi to go to distant places, such as this park.
From the center the taxi costs $ 4.00 and leaves you in a secure parking lot, inside the park.
It is surrounded by large green areas and resting places, at the end you can find a social area to organize events next to a small pier that is within the Rio Guayas.
Highly recommended to take a romantic walk with your couple.

This is the perfect destination for a Sunday morning or afternoon trip while you're in Guayaquil. We arrived a little before noon and did a short walk through the mini zoo. In the zoo you're going to see different animals, most of which are free (as in no cage).

After that, we walked through the next stage, which has some interesting antique architecture in perfect state. It's full of trees and beautiful flowers.

You can also stop by a small place where there are a few food shops. You can have lunch there (still inside the park), or just a cold drink to calm the heat.

On sunday, or at least the day we were there, they put up a show with very autochthonous characters. It is a little bit more on the teens side, as some jokes were a little inappropriate for kids, but it was still a lot of fun. The show is in spanish though.

The entrance is free, but you are welcome to donate any entrance fee. We donated an entrance fee that was totally worth it.

IMPORTANT: Take into account that this is not a much touristic zone, so there are very, very few taxis. You might want to ask the cab driver to wait for you or take a taxi service number to call to pick you up when you're done (we didn't see any public phones near, though).
