Great morning out for the family
Super day, we arrived at 11am and there was a flying exhibition at 11.30 which was perfect timing. This is in Spanish though so if you are only English speaking, it may be difficult to understand but the birds are still incredible. Well maintained park and with a play park for children. The cafeteria was so cheap (3 ice creams, a coffee and a bag on plantain chips $4). The birds are all rescued or donated and live in good conditions. Great morning out for a family.

Worth a visit for the bird show
The Condor park is worth a visit. It is nice and clean with good pavements. The show with the birds is recommendation and makes the difference. Btw: We tried to walk over there from Otavalo, but this is a very steep climb! Better choice is to take a taxi, it is 4$.

Terrific bird show and opportunity to learn more about endangered birds of prey
This is a wonderful project in a stunning setting. They do terrific work resuscitating injured birds of prey as well as educating. They have bird shows at 11.30am and 3.30pm which are fascinating and an impressive display of falconry/bird training. They also have rescued condors - though these are not part of the bird show - but also amazing to see up close. I highly recommend this is an outing from Otavalo and your entry fee supports the important work the center does.

    Unique bird of prey experience
Really cool experience to see rescued birds of prey. We were especially excited to see harpy eagles and Andean Condors. Definitely worth visiting during the flight demonstration (2x daily). Try to go on a dry, sunny day so the birds want to fly. Count on 2 hours to enjoy the demonstration and view the other birds. Very informative and interesting!

The live flight demonstration of the raptors are the highlight here.

There are amazing views from the auditorium over the valley. You can watch two of the birds (Harris Hawks) fly into the distance and return.

The Condor park is a wonderful exposure to the raptors of Ecuador. They are deeply committed to their rehabilitation mission and presentation is wonderful, against a beautiful backdrop o Cotacachi and the central valley of Imbabura.

We went expecting to see the Condor fly and saw a few other birds fly across the beautiful valley, but were disappointed that the condor was not one of them. The bird show is pretty cool and lasts about 30 minutes. It is an outdoor amphitheater. The presenter was very knowledgeable, but it was all in Spanish. I would not have minded translated for my family, but he was wearing a mask, so it was very hard to understand him. Plus, there was no microphone and he was 40 feet from us. Sometimes he would turn his back to catch the bird and then you could not hear anything he was saying. The lady as the snack shack was really kind, helpful and accommodating. The grounds were well kept and pretty. If you are looking for something to do for an hour or so, check it out, but it is expensive by Ecuadorian standards ($6 entry fee per person) and keep your expectations to a minimum.

A must-do for bird enthusiasts and for non-bird enthusiasts.

Upon arrival, we presented our Cedulas which is an Ecuadorian identification card and the entry fee was adjusted.

The park is easy to walk and around every curve, there was something new to see and in different areas some very interesting architecture.

The Harpy Eagle was my favourite but the Andean Condor was very entertaining.

When looking into the enclosures where the birds are be sure to take an extra minute to scan with your eyes, there are often many others that are in there rehabilitating or are a little shyer.

Some things you may be surprised to see are the Snowy Owl and the American Bald Eagle which are from North America.

They have two shows a day so try to arrive 10 minutes before to find your way as we were really feeling a little lost as to where it was located.

The show was quite entertaining and if you understand Spanish quite funny at times.

Feeling a little peckish? Try the little restaurant on site. The soup was great and the sandwiches were quite good. They also had many other options and the pricing was not unreasonable.
