A wonderful place but beware, the journey there is tortuous - but worth it. The view from the mirador is worth the climb

This is not a close place or one that is easy to get to while in Guatemala. There are tours and buses that will get you there, but it is a long journey - however extremely worth it. I'd recommend spending at least 3-4 days here. Semuc Champey itself is incredible with great hiking, caves, pools, beautiful waterfalls all set... More

If you are on the fence about the long trip and the remoteness, forget it. The payoff is worth the trip.

Swimming in the natural pools here is the greatest way to spend anywhere from 1 to 30 days of your life. Make sure to see it at least that one time.

We walked here from Greengos hostel and we loved it, was a lovely place to be. We explored on our own with no problems, we walked up to the Mirador and all was fine, the view was amazing. We heard sometimes there are problems with people walking up here but we thought it was fine. We swam in the pools... More

If you go there you want to see it, sit in the water and tube down the river. What a wonder of nature.
