Had a great time on our custom tour. Jef James was very friendly and very informative, answering our many questions. He had great suggestions for our tour and took us for a lunch of local foods and beer. We all had an excellent time. The butterfly farm and the birds were a great part of our visit.

We used this agency for our stop in Roatan during a cruise. Our guide and driver was very friendly, did great with our 1.5 year old and 4 year old, and knowledgeable about the area and history. He adjusted where went based on the amount of people at certain places to try and maximize our time at the locations we wanted to go to. When we visited the mangroves we were on a boat all to ourselves which was nice! Definitely one of the better guides we have had on our many travels! The kids also had no problem opening up to him and he held them and helped us get in and out of the van and boats and they went to him no problem!

We enjoyed a great day with a very capable guide Dolfus. He knew the island well and showed us some great sights. We started with the animal sanctuary and were fascinated by the sloths. The view from the top of the island was a great photo op. We loved wandering through the trails in the Botanical Garden. We got to see the local grocery where Dolfus treated us to a cold soda. The Chocolate Factory was fun and we did a little shopping. The perfect day ended when he took part of the group to a beautiful beach. We all arrived safely back to the ship on time!

We visited Roatan in January of 2022 and booked a private tour with Roatan Adventure Tours.

When we disembarked our cruise ship we walked through the port, up a steep flight of stairs, down a short hill and were met by our tour guide Dolphus. Two of our group opted to take a cab rather than take the stairs and the hill and it only cost them $2, well worth it for those with mobility issues.

Dolphus was our tour guide and he was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions about Roatan. Dolphus gave us great recommendations for stops on our tour, and gave us plenty of opportunity to stop for scenic views and photographs.

Our first stop was to a Sloth Sanctuary that also had guinea pigs and monkeys as well. The animals are all rescues, and are living there as they are unable to be released into the wild safely for a variety of issues. We spent about 45 minutes at this site, and we got to hold guinea pics, sloths, as well as play/feed with the monkeys.

We took a driving tour that allowed us to stop at some local vendors, as well as some stunning sites with views out over the ocean. Part of the tour was a drive through an area populated by locals, as well as an area populated by non-locals along a beautiful sand beach.

Along the drive Dolphus stopped so we could buy and eat produce from locals, and we had the most amazing Mangoes (two varieties) and Rambutans (similar to Lychees). All of the fruits were fresh, sweet, and super juicy!

We visited a local chocolate factory and this stop was amazing as we got a lesson on how the chocolate is made, and then given plenty of time to sample different chocolates, and then buy from a very large selection of chocolates made right there, all at great prices. Right next to the chocolate factory is a small locally owned git shop that had a good selection of items that are made on the island by local artisans; this is important to us as we like to purchase real souvenirs when we travel, not the mass produced items so prevalent in many places.

Lastly we stopped for lunch at a restaurant recommended by Dolphus and it was the most amazing, fresh cooked food. Between our group we had Conch, Red Snapper, Iguana, plantains, beans and rice, salad, and icy cold beers and cocktails.

At the end of the day Dolphus dropped us back at the cruise terminal, and we had time to look around the port before we had to get back on the ship.

This tour was one of our absolute favorites. At no time where we worried that we wouldn't get back to the port on time. Dolphus was amazing, made sure we saw everything we wanted to, as well as giving us a few wonderful surprises, and we will not hesitate to book this tour again when we are in Roatan again.

We enjoyed the animal sanctuary with slots, monkeys and maccaw birds for additional charge of $15pp.
After circling the island, we spend most of the day at Turquoise Bay Beach Resort, beautiful calm beach almost like being in a pool with no waves. That was an option $15pp that we asked for and decided to skip chocolate factory. It was our choice and we had a terrific time. Our driver was patient, knowledgeable and did what we wanted!

Our day trip with Courtney as our guide went perfectly. We were able to see what we wanted on our schedule, and it worked well with family who had limited mobility. Avoiding the mass bussing of ship organized tours was great.
Courtney was patient and made good suggestions about what locations to see and was a wealth of information about the island... and it's food.
The minivan was clean and had good Air con. Best way to see the maximum with limited time.

We have used Roatan Adventure Tours twice now, and both times have been really happy with them. I really think this is the best way to see Roatan, and for a much lower cost than the excursions organized by the cruise ship. If you're a bit nervous about using a tour operator not affiliated with the cruise lines, don't be, this was incredibly easy. We booked the tour directly with Roatan Adventure Tours and they met us right at the cruise port gate, with a company sign. Very easy to find. We were able to see whatever we wanted on our day there, from the sloths and monkeys to beautiful beaches. The drivers were both able to find us stops for snacks and drinks and the bathrooms when needed (important with kids!). Both tour operators were friendly, really knowledgeable and good with the kids.
Our first trip with them was so positive that our second trip to the island I booked a tour again for my family but also my in-laws, 9 of us in total. No problem with them getting a vehicle that accommodated us all comfortably. This time we were a bit unlucky with the weather- some rain and treacherous surf kept us from the beaches but our tour guide Jeff was excellent. We still had a great time with him, getting to visit the wildlife at AJ's and a tour of the island, with Jeff providing some great sightseeing and interesting knowledge of the island. We all agreed that despite the weather we really enjoyed it, and I'd highly recommend requesting Jeff as your guide, especially if you're visiting with kids. If I return to Roatan, that's certainly my plan.

Our tour guide, Jeff, helped us make the most of our rainy cold day in Roatan. Jeff took us on a tour of the entire island and showed us all the sights. He took us to see the sloths and monkeys at a place that was less busy than the place we had planned to go. Jeff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time and it was because we had such an amazing tour guide. Thanks Jeff for making our day much brighter.

Rudy was great - he was super chill and took us to see and do the things we wanted. We stopped to see and carry sloths and monkeys, got to drive through the island, stopped at a chocolate shop, hung out at the beach at a resort in West bay, and snorkeled. Rudy treated us to some local fruit too! It was a fun and relaxing day where we got to see a bit of Roatan.

Fantastic time, and a great way for newcomers to the island to maximize their time here! Our guide Jeff James is a lifetime local and he was SO knowledgable about almost every aspect of life here on Roatan. The informal, customizable nature of the tour meant that you get exactly what you want out of your time in Roatan, whether that's lounging in the beautiful beaches and water, exploring the dense and beautiful rainforests, or enjoying the local food and culture. The tour was just me and my fiancee, and Jeff was very personable, talkative, and friendly the whole time, he really made us feel welcome.
